"good boots" 03/22/11
want a good pair of boots? nees something that will keep your feet feeling like they are walking on air? well i believe these boots are what your looking for. there is nothing better than getting a pair of boots this nice for this price. get em, wear em, be happy.
"Comfortable boots with awesome grip, but definitely not heavy backpacking boots." 11/06/10
First, the bad: These boots do not have the ankle support to carry very heavy loads. I wouldn't advise carrying more than 30 or 40 lbs with these. They're more like moderate hikers, definitely not light hikers but by no means are they heavy duty backpacking boots. Now, the good: The impact brake system on the souls work amazingly well. The lack of hardcore ankle support may not be great for heavy duty backpacking, but the trade-off is that it allows you to retain a lot more agility. These would be great for a light to moderate hiker or even an ultralighter that wants some solid foot protection.
"supportive and dry" 05/24/10
First and foremost, try on the boot in a store. Just because these boots fit me doesn't mean you'll have the same experience I've had. With that said, these boots will get you wherever you need to go. They are stiff enough to traverse the worst terrain. They're also very supportive - I've been really impressed by the ankle support. I treat my boots with Nikwax every few trips, and I've never had wet feet. With the right insoles, they're extremely comfortable.
"Elite" 05/22/10
These are the most comfortable boots I've ever walked in...be it pavement or on the trail. I just switched from some leather Red Wing hiking boots, and the difference is incredible! Most Gore Tex boots get too hot for me in the summer time, but these breathe even better than my old Red Wings. I use them daily to keep my feet dry at work (golf courses in New England get pretty nasty sometimes), and I've taken them backpacking up in the Adirondacks in December. They're not incredibly warm by themselves, but its nothing a pair of wool socks will not take care of. La Sportiva continues to live up to its name, and I will continue buying their products, period.
