These are some super comfortable and very versatile kicks. They have the look and feel of a climbing/approach shoe, but the support and construction of a light hiker. Just wore them all over Manhattan for the holidays and then took them straight into three days of hiking the Jefferson National Forest. They fit the bill for both occasions. As for durability, the other review kind of scared me because the lace system does look like it has failure potential, but so far I have had no problems. I would highly recommend, and my feet are hard to please.
I wrote the first review on this product after wearing them out for the first time. Second time at the crag, one of the suede grommets blew out. Heartbreaking, because I loved the way these shoes fit & moved on the rock, but I had to send them back to La Sportiva for warranty service. They sent be back a brand new pair, but there's no telling how long they'll last.
These shoes fit a little tight compared with hiking boots of the same size, but they're supposed to be for approaches. They're a lot lighter and a lot better for edging than the Vasque Wasaches that I own, but have less arch support. The tight fit makes them pretty warm too, so if you're doing anything vigorous, keep that in mind.
