I bought this tarp to serve as our shelter for our summer camping trips, rather than packing our large canopy typically seen at tailgates. While it worked well for our site, and kept us cool and dry, it is quite large -- so if your campsite is on the smaller-side, I can see this size seeming almost like a nuisance. Also, something to note, the tarp does not come with the poles - so be sure you order those as well, or you will be using lots of rope to make the tarp useful! Overall, this is a better and more lightweight alternative for shelter when you are camping, and don't want to bring a large canopy set!
"Awesome product for shade and light weight camping alternative for a tent"
Have use this product all over the states from Burning Man for shade, Alabama for a light weight alternative to a tent and in Ohio for shelter up at the lake over a picnic table! The Kelty trap poles are a must for this tarp and also pick up 4 ratchet straps from your local hardware store to anchor and tension the 4 corners of the trap. Also you will probably want to replace the tent stakes that come with it, we use rebar and MSR Cyclone stakes. With this configuration we have kept the trap standing in 40mph winds and dust storms! This is a much more superior shade structure than those you will find at your local hardware store and the trap will last you for years to come!
