"Solid construction, great tasting water!" 		          10/25/09
You can survive for days in the wilderness without food, but wont make it long without clean water. When they declare marshal law, and begin forcing H1N1 vaccination, this little gem will come in handy while evading the government's attempt to inject my body with a soft-kill bioweapon by supplying me with an endless amount of potable water. The silver impregnated filter will kill stuff that most ceramic filters may not. I highly recommend you don't get the H1N1 or any vaccine, but you should purchase this water filter.

A must have if you are trekking for a while and have no sort of water refueling station. This baby pumps it out fast and allows you to drink even faster. Also it filters away all those harmful bacteria and stuff so you are left with a satisfied tummy. It is a bit pricy but well worth it. It is about the length of a hair brush and about >1.5lbs. Sort of heavy but again better than having to carry a 24 pack of water.

Money well spent on this product. Why would you want to skip on ensuring your most vital fluid is pure and healthy? Not only does the water that comes out of this sweeeeet filter taste great, its easy to use and clean! Lets not forget this bad boy is backed by a 20 year warranty. Not many products today come with a 20 year warranty! Invest in yourself, your family, your camp buddies, give them the cleanest water on the trail!

"Solidly built/great design/Definately recommend" 		          08/01/08
The first time I used one of these was in the dirt laden Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. It took me maybe 15 minutes to pump a liter of water...but if you've ever seen the Colorado River, you'd know why. This filter filtered out every little microscopic bit of sediment that the Colorado threw at it. I've sense used it in Big Bend, the Great Smokey Mountains and the Black Hills of South Dakota. Still impresses me. Downside...it's a bit heavy and a little expensive when compared to other hand pump filters, but I've never used iodine/chlorine tablets and with this, I never will.

"Great filter, very long lasting." 		          03/25/08
Great product, extremely well made. You can feel quality as soon as you remove it from the box. A little heavy for a water filter, but it pumps easily and has a massive capacity that dwarfs most filters. If you need a water filter capable of providing safe H2O for two people or more, this filter is ideal and will last a long time.

I have had Giardia while backpacking and I think you can guess that it is um, unpleasant. I will not carry anyone else's filters because even if they are lighter, Katadyn is the name you count on. Does anyone else want to offer a 20 year Warranty on one of their filters?

just as good as i had expected and i expected the best! way to go katadyn. they have thought of everything needed to keep this pump maintained. lube for the the pump and a cleaning pad for the ceramic filter are included as well as a zippered bag in which to keep the water outlet to prevent it from becoming contaminated in storage. very happy and my arms will get in to good shape from putting this pump to use.

nice size and case - i wish the case was more compact with everything, there's about 2 of free space that kind of wobbles around also wish it came with camelbak adapter expensive

"Not a better filter for the price, quality, ease of use, and weight." 		          06/08/07
You can buy good cheaper filters, but you will end up paying more on all the replacement filters to pump the same amount as this will pump with one. Consider that it filters down to .2 microns while others only filter to .3 then add in the quality construction and lifetime warranty. If this is not the filter in your backpack, your research leads you to a much different conclusion than ours did. If you come across water that you are concerned may contain viruses they don't live long carry some Katadyn micropur tablets. Pump is fast and easy to use!

"Heavy, sturdy, reliable pump that will last a lifetime." 		          01/05/07
This was my first water filter for individual and family use. We have used it for two years with not issues in water that was murky and clear. The cleaning kit is very helpful. The lifetime warranty is a great feature which guarantees the quality will remain throught out the years<BR>It is fairly heavy due to the metal body and ceramic filter. My biggest complaint is the priming handle is small and digs into the hand.
