"Great water filter; sets the standard." 10/06/12

I have used Katadyn filters for over 20 years now. After living in the arctic for two years there was water water everywhere but not a drop to drink in many a Yup'ik Eskimo village, This exact style filter was always in my pocket ready to get me hydrated. Sure, there are easier to use products but try bringing them in to frozen territory. One hint, most of the gravity type filters will explode under -40 weather due to water left behind in their capillary system. The ceramic filters just don't do this. But, in all honesty, for warmer climes I usually bring a gravity system with this as a backup. So buy it, keep it in your pocket and forget about it until you need it.

"Time to enjoy the scenery" 03/06/12

I have used this filter on several backpacking trips. It does the job, even on a trip with my wife in the Sierras it provided plenty of water. It cleans easily, light weight, good clear water as opposed to chemical methods and steripen. Only problem is I got leg cramps by the time I was finished filling two liters of water...it's slow. At least I had plenty of time to enjoy the scenery.
