"Super Easy to Use" 12/21/11
Have not used it in the field yet.Played around with a bowl of water out of the sink and pumped it into a 1L Camelbak bottle. Easy to pump, easy to clean, and actually removed some of the "taste" from city water!I plan on pairing this with my Steri pen to kill anything!
"Great Product! You Will not be disappointed!" 11/30/11
Prior to this filter, I owned an MSR. While it worked good, seemed to have a lot of issues with the ceramic filter. This filter has been great. Pumps water with ease and fills up bottles quicker than you can get em! The pumping mechanism makes it VERY easy to pump the water (unlike some other products on the market that realy make you put forth a lot of effort just to fill your water bottle). Over excellent product, highly recommended
"Do you want to carry all of your water?" 11/22/11
Katadyn water filters are great. I use to carry most of my water, however, this weighs alot less than bottled water and is awesome to have unless you are hiking the Sahara, in which case, you are insane. But seriously, it works great for hikes where water is somewhat available. I will say this, if much of the water you are filtering is murky, bring coffee filters and rubber bands to wrap the intake. It will make the ceramic filter last much, much longer.
"Like it, love it, want some more of it" 09/27/11
Great filter, works fast, haven't had any issues to speak of. Love the nalgene attachment for the outflow hose, makes filling my water bottle a cinch. Just follow the directions and it should last forever, and you can always buy replacement filters.
"Great water filter for our recent trip through the Mt. Hood National Forest" 08/29/11
We used this water filter and a Steri-pen to refill our water packs and bottles along our backpacking route in the Mt. Hood National Forest. This was the first time I had used a water filter and was pleasantly surprised at the relative ease with which I could use this filter. We used this filter for 6 backpackers for the duration of our trip and it worked great. None of us got sick during or after the trip. Looking forward to using it again.
"Gotta have it" 08/26/11
This thing pumped the best water I've ever had. Used it on Isle Royale for entire week between four guys and it kept us going the whole time. The filter did get clogged toward the end, and it was near impossible to pump. I would suggest always bringing a second filter as a back up just in case. We ended up needing it or we would've been hosed on our last day of 14 miles in 80 degree weather. Even though we were filtering the gorgeous water of lake superior, 3 microns is really small, so it gets clogged no matter how clean the source is. Still one of the best out there, most other groups were jealous.
"Great across multiple environments" 08/20/11
Love the product. Gives you the piece of mind for questionable tap water (used this summer in south america cities) and does great for turbid river water (used throughout the U.S.). Great flow rate. would fill multiple bladders and water bottles in under ten minutes. Never without clean water with this guy. Definately use the filter at the end of the input hose when using it with river water, just to help the filter last longer. No complaints with this one.
"For the Backwater" 08/15/11
I love this thing. It works like a charm and it is easily serviceable in a pinch. My only dislike is the pump is a little hard to work occasionally, it seems to stick sometimes. Because of this, pulling up on the plunger requires some extra effort. I'm sure others will find this a small price to pay for clean water like myself.
"Never been sick" 07/27/11
Never gotten sick while using this in the backcountry...that is the bottom line. It is a little heavy and bulky if you are picky about those things, however I take it everywhere I go. Great piece of gear to have!
"Great FILTER!" 07/20/11
Prior to this filter, I owned an MSR. While it worked good, seemed to have a lot of issues with the ceramic filter. Have been extremely pleased with this filter. Have used it on roughly ten trips now without a single issue. Also, VERY easy to pump the water (unlike some other products on the market that realy make you put forth a lot of effort just to fill your water bottel.
"Love it" 07/11/11
After using a sweetwater filter for a couple years, it broke. I got this to replace it and am extremely happy. works great and FAST. Takes no time to fill a 32 oz nalgene. the tube adapters make it super quick to get started, but if they're not in perfectly they will fall out while you are pumping...not that big of a deal but slightly annoying. USE THE PREFILTER and clean after every trip!!! This thing will turn mud into delicious drinking water, but if you don't treat it well you'll be out $80. nozzle fits perfectly onto Nalgenes, platypuses, camel backs and ever my hand-me down tin canteen my dad used in the Rockies in the 70s!
"Great Product!" 07/09/11
I've been using this filter for about 2 years now and bring it on every trip. It's a great filter! Water tastes crisp and clean, it is easy to use, and the attachments are easy to carry around and make it that much more useful in the backcountry. Highly recommended! I'll even be buying another one for a friend in the near future.
