Filters a LOT of WaterOther filters are good for about 3,000 gallons. The Katadyn does 40,000 gallons for about the same money. And, it has a great reputation. Plus, Moosejaw pricing and service make it a win win. How can you go wrong?

What is the difference between this and the Gravidyn model which costs less? Do they have the same 39,000 gal filtering life? Do they filter viruses?
Asked by: Paul
We are often asked what the differences are between the GRAVIDYN and CERADYN Drip Filters. Essentially, they are both exactly the same except for the inner core of their filter elements, the rest is EXACTLY the same. The Gravidyn elements have an inner core of activated charcoal inside the elements to removed bad tastes, residual chemicals in the water and odors, as opposed to the Ceradyn elements which has a rock media inner core.
