These bright yellow Cat 4 sunglasses are LOUD, but the embarrassment is worth it because they provide the best coverage of any pair of sunglasses I have ever worn, EVER. NO light enters the sides, tops or bottoms of the frame. You would have to wear goggles to get better coverage. The only reason I did not give them the highest rating is the loud and limited choice of colors. There is neon green, loud red and black. That's all.
"Great entry level glacier glasses especially for the price."
These are great entry level mountaineering glasses. These done have frills of the higher end glacier glasses like removable side shades. For the price these are awesome. The frame isn't quite as sturdy as others but seems resilient.
Those sunglasses fit excellent on my face. Lens are Spectron4, unbeatable!!! But plastic made hinges look frail. I fear that in short time will loosen.Another point below, many nooks between the frame and the lenses become very difficult cleaning...Let´s face it!!! They are in very good price!!!
this was my first pair of true glacier glasses. with so many options on the market i opted for a low budget pair and these did the trick. the spectron 4 lens has super great protection for the eye biscuits and the fact that they are rubber and plastic makes them super light weight and very very durable. plus super flexy so you can make them comfy with just about any helmut and or beanie you choose. awesome buy and bang for the buck.
I bought these glasses for a glacier trip in the Alaska Range because they were cheap, seemed hard to break and well the color was just a bonus. They worked way beyond my expectations and since that trip I use them for all activities in the sun (skiing, biking, ice-climbing and kayaking, etc). These glasses are hard to break which is perfect in a recreational setting where you don't want to worry about loosing your three hundred dollar shades or need to pack light and don't want to pack a hard case. Ultra light they protect your eyes from the sun without making everything look too dark. It is hard to find glacier-glasses that are as affordable and multi-functional as the Tensing.
These aren't small, stylish glasses, so don't expect that, but they completely protect your oh-so-fragile eyeballs from the sun, and provide exceptional field of view, so they're just about perfect for out on the glacier. And what a price compared to other glacier glasses! You might look a tad bit like you're wearing your grandma's driving glasses, but your eyes will be protected, and your pocketbook will be happy. What more can you ask for?!
