Rated 1 out of 5 by from TOO NARROW I really like the shoe but as many reviews have stated, they are narrow. I was sized correctly so I know it isn't a size issue. I've ran 80+ trail miles and for the last 70 or so have been getting blisters on the front inside arches - see pic. My feet are usually tough and I never get blisters from new shoes or boots. I've tried different insoles, socks, and today even duct tape and I still get blisters. Today was likely my last run in these. I like the shoe alot but its no fun to run with blisters. I've never had this issue with any other shoe. If they were a little wider I don't think there is a better trail running shoe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awsome I started doing Spartan Races when i turned 38 and i just turned 40 and did 6 races this year and I have been wanting you guys to build this shoe for the Beast spartan races. My knees and body take a beating on these courses in the mountains and rivers terrains. If you could add under the toe area some drain holes to the sides so the water could exit little faster would be great. Reebok make a pair of shoes just for spartan racing great shoe for the smaller races because they are so uncomfortable but have lots of features i do like. But Great Job Hoka keep up the good work and showing you care about the runners and the adventures not just the money. MR Hill

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Mixed Feelings - Feel Great but Fell Apart Great feel and fit and the traction was great on wet limestone. HOWEVER, the sole ripped on me during first 11 miles of use. A good 1 inch long gash clear through the midsole. Location of gash was between the treaded outsole where the midsole gets a bit thinner (see pic). Possible design flaw and durability issue, or just bad luck, not sure? All I know is I have run these trails many times with many other shoes and never have had such an experience.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would never buy again Bought and trained any hours in this shoe to run the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim to Rim (approximately 48 miles). After about 24 miles, blisters developed along the seam on the shoes at the inside of each heal. Same exact thing happened in the same location to my friend. Not sure why Hoka put a seam in this particular location in the shoe as the ATRs and Cliftons both don't have it. Blisters made the last 24 miles very painful and ruined the experience. At the end I threw them in the trash. While I still love Hoka shoes and will continue to run in them (ATRs and Cliftons), I would stay clear of the Speadgoat.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice shoes But !!!! I was so excited when these shoes came out they look awesome. The grip is fantastic. The heel box feels great and the mid foot too. But on runs 6 miles or longer they cripple and destroy my little toes and cause a blister at the base of my big toe to the point that I can hardly walk. The toe box is way to narrow and it becomes even more apparent running down a hill or mountain now I'm disappointed and have cut a hole in mine to stop my toe hurting

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unstabble Heel/Platform, Blisters, No Bueno I've tried Hokas at the store, but never purchased. I have always felt the heel was too thick, and while the support would be nice, I feel like I'm wearing platform shoes and I feel too unstable in them. Not having the opportunity to try the Speedgoats at the store (no one carries them), I took a chance since the heel did not look so big. When I put them on, I instantly feel like my feet sat at a awkward angle, and I knew they would not work. I tried them on a trail anyway, and confirmed my suspicions. Also, the toebox seems way too big. Blisters, no bueno. They're not for me, but might work for others.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Goats are "Beasts"! I know there have been a lot of mixed reviews on the Speedgoat and when I took them out for a test drive- I felt all the issues people have pointed out. I will say that none of them were deal breakers- the pros of this shoe totally outweigh any cons. From the cushioning to the amazing grip (the wetter and sloppier the terrain, the better the shoe performed) the durable outsole, and utter lightness- my legs felt FRESH at the end of my run. One of the biggest pros are how amazing they feel on climbs. These shoes have the most amazing forefoot cushioning that feels like you're floating uphill when you're up on your toes. Additionally I was surprised how much ground-feel is still possible with that much material underfoot. These shoes WORKED for me!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Superior grip let down by inferior uppers. These shoes are the most comfortable trail shoes I've ever worn. They work well in a huge range of terrain including very slippery mud. They feel super fast and light and offer great support. I've never had a blister with these shoes, I ran 47kms straight outa the box with not a single issue. However after only 400kms they have already got holes in the uppers and will only last another 100kms which is extremely disappointing for the hefty price I paid for them. If you want a reliable shoe which will last you a season of training then these are not the shoes for you. My cheap nike trail shoes have lasted twice the distance. I really wanted to have a long term relationship with Hokas but the poor design of the uppers has been disappointing. If your gonna put fantastic grip and cushioning on a shoe why would you design such a weak upper?
