Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Update The original Clifton was an obvious hit with the running community. However, there were a few things that could have been improved upon. Hoka got it right. They left all that was great about the Clifton alone. Fixed is the tongue padding and some of the general structure of the shoe. It retains the light weight and generous cushion we love. I believe this will be one of the biggest hits yet for Hoka. I love these shoes without any reservation or desire for anything different. The new colors are an improvement as well. Once you start wearing Hokas it is very hard to go back. Congratulations on the Clifton 2. A perfect update and the creation of an absolutely amazing running shoe. Thank you Hoka!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Don't mess with success I have been through two pairs of the original Clifton's and couldn't wait to get the new Clifton 2's. Sorry to say but I don't believe this shoe is as good as the original. While some may disagree, I liked the no pad tongue. It stayed in place and was not unfortable at all. The new one moves, even though I have put the shoe strings through the slit in the tongue. While my foot is not a wide foot, this shoe is narrower than the original and while it is not uncomfortable, I again prefer the old fit. This is not a bad shoe and the only reason I gave it a four star rating is that the original Clifton's are a five star shoe.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Looking forward to Clifton 3 Have 3 pairs of Clifton 1 with 750, 600 & 350 km run: awesome shoe although always a touch tight for me in the toe box. For guidance, my pace is around 3hr for marathon. The Clifton 2 has an improved tongue, and 2nd top hole for lacing, but is 1oz heavier and even narrower in the toe box. (as a result, I have kept my last pair of Clifton 1 back for races). Have also a pair of Bondi 4 2E and that fit is great, but they are heavier still. Looking forward to the release of the Clifton 3. Hopefully you have reduced the weight back down. I know you have made them a touch wider, but better still bring out a 2E please

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Please fix the toe box! I had a pair of Clifton 1 and also had 400 miles in. Loved running on the road on them, so bought the 2 (love the black colour, please persist with this!) but I had to send mine back after 25 miles. The stitching on the underside of the material that sits on top the toes, really stuck out and caused a gash/injury to my foot. Toe box is just too narrow still. Please add a bit more width, get rid of the seams/stitching and make the top and side of the foot as pleasurable to wear as the bottom of the feet/legs. Please.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boing, Boing, Boing Well I'm writing a review after my third pair of Clifton 2. They are comfortable, and fantastic to run on the road. I bought into the minimalist movement few years back and when I first saw and heard of Hoka, I shrugged it off like it was a crazy, temporary fad. However, curiosity got the best of me and I decided to give Hoka's a try and bought my first pair of Clifton 2. I was sold after my first run. They are fantastic. Just one thing, I supinate/under pronate really bad, so the lateral side of the shoe wears out incredibly fast for me, and that is/was the case with the Clifton 2s. There is a reason why I'm going through my third pair now.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from NOT LIKE THE ORIGINAL The original Clifton was nearly perfect--responsive cushioning, snug fit, smooth and fast. The only issue was that my pinky toes were pinched (and I have C/D width feet). The Clifton 2 is completely different. While they don't pinch my pinky toes anymore, the shoes don't have the same cushioning (harder/not as responsive), and they're not as smooth or fast. And after putting about 100 miles on them, they feel shot. Too many updates for Hoka has destroyed an almost perfect shoe. Hopefully the 3rd version gets back to the Clifton's roots. Hoka makes too many shoes these days. They need to concentrate on what works.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Please address the shoe width! I am a few weeks away from my Marathon that I have trained in the original Cliftons and I was shocked when I went to purchase another set for the race. I was absolutely stunned the difference in the shoe. I was wearing my original Clifton shoes so I compared the foot print with this version. It was absolutely indeed smaller in the toe box; Hoka narrowed the shoe. Hoka has officially eliminated me from this shoe with their decision to significantly change this shoe. I would hope that if enough people bring this to their attention then you would at least offer this show in a EE width.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Just Got Better I'm 6'2" and 200 lb, running 30-35 miles weekly on these shoes. My last 2 pair of Clifton 1's saw me through marathon training, a marathon, and 2 half-marathons. I like the balance between cushion and weight afforded with the original Clifton's, but they always lacked a bit in comfort and stability. Enter Clifton 2 -- the padded tongue, extra lacing eyelets, and increased structural stability basically fixed the tiny problems found in the Clifton 1's. They're still lightweight and cushioning, and feel fantastic to run in. I'm still not wearing them out for a night on the town...but they're a running shoe -- and the best one I've ever had.
