Rugged, comfortable backpacking bootI wore these boots backpacking for a summer on Kodiak Island, AK. They were subjected to walking on jagged rocks all day, bogs, rain storms, and mountains. I didn't get a single blister. The leather held up, the waterproofing was excellent (with regular oiling), and it's fantastic they can be resoled (the tread was completely worn off from hiking on scree).
I fell in love with these boots even though they were 2 sizes too large...looooong story. I loved them so much I splurged to re-purchase them in my correct size. They are one-piece construction which minimizes seams and is one of the reasons I didn't get blisters. The leather is soft compared to several other higher-end options, which made breaking them in a breeze.
They are a heavy boot, but for me that was well overcome by the many other positive attributes of these boots. I find they run a bit large, but sit well on the heel and arch of the foot. So, I bought my standard size and have some more toe room, which I actually really like.
