A ten-pointed polyamide structure, which does not require adjustment to adapt to any type of shoe, in any size.Properly used, the Spider will provide an important margin of safety to the trekker who finds himself on snow, iced-over trails, wet grass and heather or simply hiking on steep, muddy terrain. While helpful to hunters and mountain photographers, Spiders are especially useful to professionals who encounter snow and ice on a daily basis in winter: park rangers, loggers and snow-making, equipment operators at ski resorts, just to name a few. But hey, if you want to wear them to walk out and get the mail, who are we to judge?

You needs these, perfect for an emergency kitMy wife and I went glacier hiking in Iceland last year and fell in love with using crampons. We came back to Atlanta, where you do not need crampons, or so we thought. Two months after our return from Iceland, we encountered small snowstorm that turned into a huge sheet of ice that shut down the city and caused people to abandon their cars and walk a very long way home (on ice). We both vowed that we would be prepared the next time this happened. Regular crampons would probably be a bit overkill, especially when keeping them in you car, in Atlanta, but when I found these, I was ecstatic! They fit nicely into the included carry bag and fit with any shoe or boot. They are perfect for walking on slippery surfaces and are made by a very well respected mountaineering manufacturer.

Grivel Spider CramponI am happy with these crampons which are simple to put on and off my boots.
I will now be able to hike in Northern California with or without ice and snow.
