The G12 Crampon by Grivel is a classic 12-point crampon designed for general mountaineering, alpinism, mixed ice and rock climbing, and moderate waterfall routes. The four points that are perpendicular to the crampon rails, prevent shearing in soft snow and improve security while descending (facing outward). "Very good crampon"  09/23/10

Campare to the BD contact, this one is a little bit heavy. But it is very stable and Antibott works pretty well.

"Awesome product."  05/01/10

Wore these up Rainier last year and they performed flawlessly. Hopefully they will get me up Denali next year.

"Killer Crampons"  10/03/08

I bought these because of another friend who loved them so much and now I feel the same way. They worked excellent for climbing Mt. Rainier this summer, the crampons didn't fall off or even come loose after full days in snow/ice/rock terrain. They are very durable and still moderately sharp after climbing in them. One thing to note is the sizing. I wear a size 12.5 size boot (US) and had to use the very last notch on the crampon to get them fitting where I wanted them. So if you have a size 13 boot or larger these may not fit your boot.

"I have never been disapointed with anything Grivel"  06/24/08

Wow, these new G12's are great! I bought these for a friend who needed crampons for when we did an early season ascent of El Diente, CO. I bought my pair of G12's back a couple of years ago. They have changed a few things in the design all for the better. The new style of Antibots kick butt! The new tooth design is rad. If you have a big foot, make sure to get the larges. I bought the regulars for my friend who wears a US size 10 and they were on the largest setting. But have no fear, I wear a US size 15 and I still have a hole larger to go. I could even fit them on over-boots. Grivel is the shizz!

"a solid product from the originators"  05/18/08

I bought these for upcoming climbs of Rainier and Denali. They are a little harder to put on while wearing gloves than the newmatics, but they fit over a variety of boots, including overboots, and they weigh about an ounce less.

"perfect all-around mountaineering crampons"  03/19/08

the classic 12pt steel crampons perfect for all-around mountaineering use, and the new classic binding system allows them to adapt to any style boot removing the accordion helps for packing them into crampon bags

"Awesome"  10/02/07

Yum, these crampons are tasty! I haven't had them for too long but in my short amount of experience they perform admirably on snow and ice climbs. As previously mentioned, they really are baboon proof. They're simple to strap on and super insulated gloves and they like are no hindrance either! The anti-balling plates that come on standard on these bad boys are really worth it too. One their inaugural outing, the only time I tapped these crampons with my ice ax was either 1 when I was bored, or 2 when I wanted to feel bad ass. It's not just a convenience too, the lack of snow build up obviously translates into better performance and grip.

"Best Bang-for-the-Buck crampons on the market."  07/11/07

I have worn several different styles and brands of crampons in the past. These are by far the best. They easily adjust, fasten securely, and are extremely versitile for ice and snow. These are the best bang-for-the-buck crampons you will ever purchase. They are extremely tough and sharp. If you decide not to purchase these, purchase a similar pair perhaps other Grivel brands.....but not aluminum-alloy light weight pairs because they tend to wear out quickly.
