"Good but with drawbacks"  03/16/10

ProsComfort - better than Ospreys at carrying the same weight. Extra padding in the lower back prevents the internal frame from digging into your back. Padded hip-belts and shoulder straps look simple but feel greatConsSmall main compartment - internal frame is curved into the main storage area, reducing the effective amount of space and making it difficult to pack certain itemsPoor Camelbak storage - You have to cram the resevoir inside the pack between the curved internal frame and your pack contents. This makes mid-hike refills difficult and annoying. Also, threading a 90 degree bite valve through the small slit in the pack is a HUGE CHORE.No external water bottle pockets! WTF?

"Good pack"  12/18/09

Well, not as comfortable as my Ospery, but it is a well made pack. It has room to fit my 20 degree sleeping bag, a 3 seasons 2 person tent, cooking utensils, food for 3 days and some extra stuffs. The side zipper is a plus to get to things in the middle, like your water bottle. Only complaint is there are no side pockets to put your water bottles.

"Can't stop"  07/19/09

Since this pack showed up on my doorstop I can't stop taking it out. 35lbs - 40lbs feels much lighter. The bucket pocket is a cool idea and the hood's pocket is accessible while worn, with a little stretching. The hip belt could use more padding, it digs a little with heavier loads. The hip belt's pockets rub my arms (not that huge of a problem). Overall a great pack for a great price.

"Fits like a glove. Like a power glove."  04/16/09

I'm 6'1" @ 200# and I love the fit of the large z55. This pack was an upgrade from an old Kelty, and I'm never looking back. The shoulder straps are amazing and has a pouch inside for your camelbak! It's not pretentiously oversized, but a perfect balance of size and minimalism. At first it was hard to get use to the lack of outside pockets, but I rearranged and have no complaints. P.S.: The Gregory size small rain cover fits great, even with a sleeping pad strapped into the outside bottom.

"Best Pack EVER"  04/03/09

Bought this pack for its fit and light weight. Managed to pack four days of gear and still wore like a glove. Great pack for taller guys like myself!

"Takes a licking..."  03/23/09

I dig it. Beat the heck out of a blue one the last two seasons and will do it again this year. I think I've maximized it's potential using it for 8day trips into Sequoia with a smaller canister even. I echo the complaint about the sternum strap clip coming off. I keep it PACKED so the side mesh pockets can be tough to get into so you gotta pack smart. This pack has made me really happy. The padding is thinner than some, but I have found I like the thinner, firmer padding. Once that first 5lbs of food is out of there it's all good. It's a bit heavier than the GoLites I was using, but they are in TATTERS! The ventilation is great!

"A Decent Backpack with Many Features!"  03/16/09

I used this pack all summer and found it very adequate for climbing gear. Pretty good quality but the water-resistant zippers are not very durable. Other than that it has been a great product!

"Excellent pack. Definitley check it out if you're in the market for a new weekend pack."  03/14/09

An excellent pack. Able to handle 35lb loads with ease. Fits my nemo tent, therm-a-rest prolite 4, down bag, raingear, fleece, cookset, and food and water for 3 days with a little room to spare. The airstream back does it job and keeps your back dry and cool. The fit and finish is awesome - a very comfortable pack. A must have.

"a simple bag for those looking to carry what they need"  02/16/09

no need to get caught up in how many zippers, fanny packs, 4790988 loops and all that other extra stuff on some of the super expensive bags. this one is perfect for those that carry what they need, pack light and like being them selves and not a pack goat or being converted in to a Sherpa. nice and light. good padding. Gregory rocks, just not as much as Moosejaw.

"Great for Light Weight Backpacking..."  12/14/08

I love this pack. I used to buy nothing but Duiter Packs until I tried on one of these babies. I've used mine in the Smokies, The Cumberland Mountains, The Gila (Southern New Mexico), and just recently on a trip to Vietnam. It rides well and is solid. There is not as much space inside the pack if you are going on a 5 day / night hike........but I like the limited space, because it forces me to continually look for lighter, more compact equipment. Cons: The only COMPLAINT I have is the design of the shoulder harness chest clasp. When carrying 35 lbs + it has a tendency to come unattached from the harness itself. It is easy enough to reattach, but gets frustrating.

"Top Notch"  08/25/08

Excellent pack! This thing is comfortable and has a ton of adjustments. Make sure you take the time to match the pack to your build and you will be fine. I really think Gregory listened to its customers because it has so many great features from dual hydration outlets, to elastic front pocket, to side access panels. The back suspension really keeps you from getting the all nasty swamp butt.

"This pack is top notch. You get what you need, nothing less."  07/29/08

Great all around pack. Tried several packs and this one was the best, not by far, but the best. Not too heavy, big enough for all a reasonable person would need, and fits great. The support system is top notch. Gregory has outdone everyone on this. The pack conforms to your shape well and lets you be mobile enough to move freely without walking around like you're carrying a gorilla on your back. Only two negatives not hydration compatible, and the side mesh pockets are difficult to use/access when the pack is fully loaded.
