I wanted a pack that I could use for hiking, but also take as carry-on luggage when I fly, and this bag satisfies both! Initially the pack looked smaller than I thought it would be, but I was able to pack everything I wanted. I take 4L of water with me when I hike up a local mountain and this pack is so comfortable....especially compared to my hubby's Deuter pack. I purchased the Tuloumine Green colour and it's just beautiful :) This is my first *real* pack and what I really love about it is the pockets on the hip strap.
I bought this after having my Gregory Deva 65 for a year. I needed a smaller pack for shorter trips and this works perfectly. It has a place for my bladder and all the back support and comfort gregory is known for.
It doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but if you wanted those things you'd have to pay more. This pack gets the job done and I thinks it's a great value for the money. The pack worked well on my recent southern Italy 2 week backpacker trip. There's only one set of compression straps so there's very little ability to reduce the size of your load. But overall I'm really happy with my purchase and would recommend this pack to friends.
"Great pack, but double check the sizing"
Exceptional features. Love the green color! Problem: sizing. By the Gregory charts I’m a Small (17.5” from C7 to my iliac crest), but the waist strap hits me at mid-belly and transfers all the weight to my shoulders – not good. I don’t know if this is a common problem or if my hip bones are just higher than average. If you're in a similar situation and can’t try various sizes before ordering, I recommend measuring from C7 to the spot on your hips where you would actually like the waist strap to be, not just to the top of the hip bone. I hope the Medium fits better as this pack is otherwise amazing. Jet stream, capacity and organization are perfect for my 3 week backpacking trip to S Africa.
