Almost exactly what I wanted.Just returned from 10 days in Europe. Backpack fits under the seat on the airplane - very important to me as I also had a roller carryon and did not want to check luggage. Backpack was perfect traveling through Europe and taking day trips. The top small pocket provided easy access to smaller necessities - money, passport, earphones, keys, etc. The sidepocket was perfect for my iPad. The 30L provides plenty of room for shoes, clothing, and jacket. My only issue was a lack exterior side pockets for water bottles.

Minimalist haulerMy husband and I own the 30L and 40L Compass and we primarily use them for travel and as crag/gym bags for rock climbing. For travel, they're great because the opening makes them easy to pack efficiently and they don't have a million straps. As a crag bag it's great for the same reason – easy to pack and find gear. I really like that the bag lies entirely on its front and opens completely. It's not a bag for easy access on the go, so I wouldn't recommend it for hiking or anything where you might want to easily grab a water bottle or jacket. The top pocket is the only easy access point, and it's large enough for keys, wallet, random small things. I sometimes put a water bottle up there if there's room. (The 40L has a bottom compartment that's nice for grabbing a jacket or shedding layers on the go.)
Wondering if there is setup for a hydration bladder or side pockets for water bottle? And waist belt?

This pack does not include any side pockets or a specific sleeve/pocket to insert a hydration bladder, but there are several pockets inside that could work as a makeshift holder for that. This pack contains a sternum strap but not a waist/hip belt.
