"Utilitarian Dream" 08/24/10

This pack has accompanied me internationally--both as a highly-function, low-weight luggage substitude and the sole vessel of all my worldly possessions for a rocky amble. If you are an efficient packer, this is the best option available. Otherwise go with the Latitude version. This was the primary backpack when I worked as a guide in college, and I enjoyed it so much I bought one after I quit. It has been my primary pack for 5 years or so.It is classified as something of a weekender, but if you're a light-packer, it really exceeds its volume in usefulness. The tepex frame is comfortable and easily distributes weight.John Stuart Mill-approved!

"Excellent Pack: Utilitarian's Dream." 08/24/10

This pack has carried me over two continents and too many hiking trips to count. Comfortable hip-belt and straps. If you aren't an efficient backpacker, you may be more inclined to get the Latitude version w/ the zip panel for easier access. If you take the bare essentials like me, this is a fantastic pack. It's usually classified for weekend trips, but it packs bigger than its volume rating. The tepex frame evenly and comfortably distributes weight to your hips. I used this particular model both with my guide service in college and I bought one for personal use years later. Highly, highly recommended.

"Keep it Simple" 08/24/10

Perfect for the teenaged scout or the backpacker who isn't ready for ultralight. I used this a lot before I got the Granite Gear Escape AC 60. It's fully adjustable (carry a Swiss Army Knife with a Phillips-head screwdriver if you plan to adjust it in the field.) Lots of room, and the compression system keeps the load compact. Tremendously comfortable to wear, and the generous foam backpad can be used under your lower legs to extend your 3/4 length pad to full-length (simultaneously solving the problem of where to store the pack.) I've added a Pack Pocket to the back of the pack, to hold small items or my rain gear; more for convenience than because I need the space.

"Reached a Deadend" 07/10/09

Unfortunately, this is the best backpack I have ever felt. I got it hoping that I would be able to customize a perfect fit. Granite Gear allows you to exchange belts and straps for different sizes and load capacities. However, Moosejaw was not helpful at all when it came to aiding me with this process contrary to what the reviewer below said. I was told by Moosejaw that I would have to go about dealing with matters by calling Granite Gear personally. I called them and they want me to put down a $45 deposit for each belt and pay $30 for shipping. All of this hassle when buying a brand new backpack? I think not! I plan on returning this bag first chance I get. What a shame!

"Its good stuff!" 05/18/09

Unbeatable comfort. Seriously. I've had a lot of packs and this one is PLUSH. Plus its adjustable. Infinitely so. And moosejaw will even do the belt and strap swapping for you if you ask! Big thumbs up for that! You get a custom fit pack that way.The only downside to this pack is if you like pockets. This is streamlined and simple. Not a lot of compartments or pockets (two stretchy side pockets) for stashing things.

"Simply the best" 05/29/08

I finally got to try out this pack on a 3 day hike in Big Sur, Ca. It was really comfortable with 35 lb load and was over loaded with more than the 3800 cu. in. its rated at, plus still had more room. This pack has definitely lived up to everything that is said about it. It also had great weight transfer from the frame, which is why I didn't go super ultralite.

"Excellent fitting lightweight top-loader" 07/27/06

I exchanged the Latitude Vapor for the Nimbus Ozone in case I needed to carry more than the 30 pound recommended limit on the Vapor. This was a good decision as I am now carrying more of my wife's gear in my pack - but it's OK, she's pregnant. I'll cut her some slack.

The pack was fairly easy to adjust and fits very well - it's more comfortable, for me, than the Vapor was. I also find it easier to pack eventhough it's a top-loader. I like the clean design and not having a lot of straps, etc. on the outside of the pack. I just get confused when there's too many pockets and adjustments to play with. There's plenty of room in this pack as well - more than I'll need most of the time.
