"Terrific, Comfortable and Solid design" 07/10/07
This is the most comfortable pack I have owned. It is heavy in some ultralite backpacker's opinion, but I find the comfort of the way the pack rides is well worth the extra pound or so. The panel loading system is well thought out and works very well I can find everything in my pack anytime. One thing I would like to see added is a top flap pocket as Granite Gear offers on some of its similar packs, although is does have an internal top pocket that is so convenient that I take it out and use it in my ultra light pack when doing only an overnight hike. Hey, I love this pack!
"It's a 3.5lb pack that hold 60L" 06/09/07
This pack is comfy. The light weight hip belt it comes with has outward pulls which is too bad, no upper side pocket like the women's and the hole for a water tube is a waste of effort, just run it out the lid. You back WILL get sweaty but the panel does dry very quickly. As for loading, it takes a while to get used to. If you only need one small thing and you know where it is, no prob. Any more and you're rearranging everything. Seems small at first but I have yet to really fill it. T-Rest straps outside vertically between zippers well. Stretchy side pockets are huge but can make it a bit wide.
"Getting into lghtwght packing? This is pack for you" 08/09/06
This pack is perfect for everyone trying to get into lightweight backpacking, but just can't quite get to that "cutting-the-toothbrush-in-half" stage. It's a bomber pack that can still hold upwards of 40 lbs. The internal compression straps are really helpful. A little surprise that I didn't realize was that the pack also comes with a stuff sack that clips inside and can be used as a seat cushion. Pleasant surprise and pretty handy. All in all, a great pack for an extended weekend or as long as a week, if you know how to pack well.
