Great pack and made wellThe Granite Gear Crown VC is a great lightweight pack. Its made durable and should last on all of my weekend and weeklong hikes into the back country. It fits like a glove and should be a very comfortable pack.

Off-the-beaten path light pack for heading off the beaten pathPack choice is a real one-star-or-five-stars topic of conversation among thruhikers and newbies alike, but it seems like this pack doesn't come up too often. Lightweight, comfortable, and (potentially) completely frameless with the inflatable reinforcement pad, the Crown 60 is, dollar-for-dollar, a great mid-range budget choice for long distance / ultralight folk. The hardware is pretty slim and the features are pretty light, but even through weather, tumbles, some underbrush abuse, and one emergency roof rack lashing, this pack has held up like a champ. Like a lot of GG packs, all the pieces are modular / expandable for extra hook-ups and storage, which is good because the interior is pretty spartan when it comes to pockets / org. features (even on the hydration front, you've gotta just toss it in there). But I find when it comes to getting every possible inch out of a multi-day load, the big open interior does the trick. A great bang for your buck.

Great lightweight pack that does not sacrifice on comfort.Having gotten used to heavy full featured luxury packs, I hesitated to purchase this pack. I feared that the narrow waist belt and shoulder straps would slip and slide and dig into my pits and love handles, that the stretch mesh pockets would fail to hold anything, that the lineloc compression would lead to a misshapen, non-compressed and off-balance pack, and that the lack of easy access compartments would be highly inconvenient. However, I was planning a 3 day trip into the Grand Canyon - in mid July. I was having minor back issues at the time, and I always have hydration issues and swamp back with my other packs - even when in cool climates. So, I decided to try this pack for its vapor current suspension and its ultra light weight. The reduction in pack weight allowed me to carry extra water, and the vapor suspension worked as advertised. Furthermore, the design features that reduced the weight did not reduce the comfort, convenience, or stability. The pack exceeded my expectations.

Thru Hiking PerfectionBelieve it or not I actually purchased this pack entirely with rewards points that I had accumulated over the span of about a year and I have to say I wish I had just bout the thing when I first saw it instead of waiting so long! I'm 6'5 and about 220lbs with an athletic build and regular actually fits me perfectly. (I'm like 75% legs and so my torso length is only about 19") The shoulder straps are down right luxurious for the weight of this pack and really conform well to the body, my only gripe is that they are just a touch narrow on my neck but the material is soft and I always hike in a collared shirt so i have never had any problem with chafing as of yet. (I have a massive "football neck" so 99% of the population probably won' have this issue) The hip belts are equally as comfy as the shoulder straps and distribute the load nicely, I only wish they had pockets already attached, but any molle pouch will attach which I guess ads a nice modular touch.big simple single compartment pouch is just what the doctor ordered and the roll top closing method seems to help sinch down loads of any size better than a brain top while actually making the pack more weather resistant when being used with a contractor bag as a liner, it basically makes a dry sack out of the bag. Love love love all of the stretch mesh, i only wish it was a bit more durable, but for the weight I can't complain too much. So finally, I love the weight of this pack, a sub 1 kilo pack with the comfort of a 2+ kilo pack is an absolute win. It was like this pack was designed for thru hikers, comfortably carrying everything you need at the weight that you want.
What does it mean that the Granite Gear VC 60 is hydrating compatible?...I bought on but does the water bladder go where the internal frame is zippered?
Asked by: Lost Sailor
Thanks for the awesome question. When a pack is labeled as hydrating compatible it means that it is able to hold a hydration bladder to keep your thirst quenched on the trail! This pack actually has an internal pocket that holds the reservoir where you would put your liquids. I hope this helps!
