Solar Recharging kit over promises and under deliversWhen one reads "Power Your Phone From the Sun" one would expect that one could power that phone on a fairly continuous basis. Unfortunately that is is not true with just this kit. Supposedly it is possible to charge the Switch 8 (the battery) in 6-12 hours with the panel. That might be true if the panel is continuously and ideally directed towards the sun on a perfectly clear summer day, but not when set outside at the end of November even with absolutely no shade. The one I have has been outside for a week, (albeit coming in most nights and back out by 9am), and has yet to indicate that it is 3/4 charged. The Switch 8 does seem to provide the stated charging capability at least for one shot off of a USB charge, but it is definitely no more than one phone charge per full Switch 8 even new. The whole set up is just shy of 12 ozs but for that I would like to charge a cell phone daily.
