Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great multiuse lantern Used this for several overnight trips with great success. Light lasted quite a while on low setting with the crank recharging it at a decent pace. The attachment and hanging sections worked well withotut adding bulk to the package. Have always used propane lanterns but this has convinced me to give LED technology a chance. The attention to details has left nothing to chance. The charging cord wraps perfectly and stays in place. It's nice to not have to worry about empty tanks and broken mantles. This will be the high water mark other LED lanterns will soon be compared with.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Power level indicator are not accutate As soon as I receive the lantern I topped off the battery to make sure it was fully charged. I set it to the 180 degree illumination and the lowest out put possible. The lantern remained on for 60+ hours. This was good. However, the battery life indicators failed to give an accurate reading as to how much battery life was left. The lantern showed two blue lights (indicating 1/2 of the battery remained) at 60 hours. The battery ran out of power at about 64 hours. Warning, the battery indicators are not an accurate indicator of the remaining power. You can not trust the battery power indicators to tell you how much power is remaining.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Broken Recharging Handle I bought this product a little over a year ago and have used it 5-6 times. Works well as advertised as far as all of the specs go. I was sitting on my couch a month ago and decided to try manually charging it for with the crank on top just to give it a try. I had never used it before and it broke off in less than 1 minute of cranking. Love the light but that seems to be a weak point. Unless it has been upgraded in the last year I wouldn't recommend using it unless you are in a real emergency situation. If the crank hadn't broken so easily then this would have been a 5 star rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Portable Light and Power System I have had my Lighthouse now for a few weeks, I have tested the life cycle of the light, recharged it with a USB wall charger, Nomad 13 Switch 8, Guide 10, and slapped in spare AA batteries for the Guide 10, and charged again. That my friends is one sure fire way to have light for a long time. All specs were exceeded in my tests. I also used it recharge a switch 8, Guide 10, and RockOut2, all published recharged times were close. If all else fails, turn the hand for one minute and get about 10 minutes of low light. The red "cyclops beacon" emergency lights are great to draw attention. For an emergency kit this is handy if you trapped or changing a tire in the roadway. My only suggestion is to add an emergency attention "chip" to assist in emergency location tracking

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lantern that also Charges Phones Full disclosure: I'm a Goal Zero employee who has been testing this product for several months now. I've been using iterations of the Lighthouse 250 for several months now, and in my opinion this version of the Lighthouse is a huge step up from the previous version. Updates from the previous version include: - Adjustable light. You can light one side of the LED to use to light a path, and you can adjust the brightness. - Brighter light. This version is 250 lumens, which is much, much brighter than the previous version. - Double battery capacity. - USB rechargeable. Charge from any USB plug, computer or any Goal Zero solar panel. - Size. It's half the size of the previous version. - Charges most smart phones 2x. Still has: - Dynamo emergency crank - Emergency LED functionality - Durable construction Great lantern that also charges phones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best lantern for camping and power outages. We got a lighthouse package (solar panels) for Christmas and I can truthfully say that it is one of the most used and most valued Christmas gifts we have ever received. We use this lantern for light and to charge our cell phones when we go camping. My kids love it and it packs away super easy. It is sturdy, powerful, and just plan cool. We have also used it at home when the power goes out for a few hours. It is powerful enough to light up our whole room. This is a great gift item to have on hand for fun, and just in case of an emergency.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from lighthouse 250 This has to be the greatest camping lantern in the world. It is plenty bright for those camping trips with no power. The battery time lasts for at least two days. If you buy a small solar panel and charge it very day you have all the light you will ever need without buying batteries. The design is light yet can be tall enough to use for a dinner light. I am so impressed with this lantern I am going to buy a second one for backup. I have never used the hand crank since the solar panel charges it up every day. I haven't used the usb charger either. Goal zero has become one of my favorite company making quality products the don't pollute the world we live in.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great concept....poor construction.... maybe? I was so excited to have finally tracked down a lighthouse 250 at one of the local REI stores, as they have been sold out for some time. The feature that was most important to me was the hand crank for emergency recharging. I actually bought it on the way to a dinner party, and I was raving about it, so all the guys walked out to the garage to see it... I opened the package, went to unfold the crank arm and the top popped right off...no big deal I tough, I can just reattach it...wrong... the glue welding the crank into the recess on the body of the lighthouse had failed. Angry and rather embarrassed, I contacted REI and asked if this had been a return because there was no way this could have been manufactured this was way. They said it had been shipped in that very same week... I am going to return this current one I have and special order another one that hopefully arrives before the Overland Expo and performs as intended. As I stated I really like the concept of this product and I hope it can be a permanent fixture in our kit.
