This Watch is GreatI am very happy with the watch and it has turned out to be a great fitness and backcountry watch. I never thought I would be one of those people who would track the number of steps and calories but the watch has made it easy and kind of fun. The features have made me more aware of fitness and staying on it. However, I am most pleased with the GPS features of the watch such as plotting and tracking a course. I recently climbed Mount Shasta and I was able to plot my course in advance. Using a pre-plotted course and having the ability to make corrections was super helpful when climbing early in headlamps and later in total fog cover. The backtrack function is very helpful as well. I now leave my heavy hand held GPS at home. The Fenix 3 and a map as needed works better that the hand held GPS ever did. I opted for the Fexix 3 over the Suunto Ambit3 after a lot of research I am very pleased with my choice.

PhenomenalI bought this watch primarily for the running features. I had a fitbit at one point (it died) and I liked how it tracked steps for me. Instead of wearing 2 devices, I can now wear one. The watch fits my small wrist very well and I barely notice the weight of anymore.
The Sapphire face is the way to go - I've had it for two weeks bumped it across multiple surfaces on accident and it still looks brand new. In addition to the upgraded face you get 2 bands (one metal, one black plastic). They interchange easily. I believe the metal band itself retails for around $130. Between the upgrade watch face and the metal band, I felt the Sapphire was the better choice over the non-Sapphire Fenix 3.
The watch widgets (running, cycling, hiking, etc) are very customizable and the watch is very easy to use. I absolutely recommend it.

Absolutely loving it!First, the order experience through Moosejaw was fantastic! Very friendly and helpful, and they got my order shipped to Canada timely.,,,,I was looking everywhere to get my hands on this, pre-release, and Moosejaw had it! The watch is absolutely gorgeous. I wear it while running, racing, and around the office since it looks great too. With the feature-set, it's great for training, variety activities and competitions (marathon, OCR, etc) I'm involved in. Biking, swimming, running... It's a solid device, and my excitement to get my hands on one was warranted!,,,,Loving the Livetrack feature to let people know where I am during an activity, the instant upload to Garmin Connect (without having to sync with PC), customization of features, activities, and looks, music controls... The list goes on, and I'm sure there's much I haven't even learned yet that it's capable of!.,,,,All-in-all... Highly recommend the Garmin Fenix 3 Sapphire, and of course, Moosejaw!,,,,Cheers from the North!

Nice GPS Watch But.....I only put 3 stars because of the display being quite too dim (not adjustable!). It brightens at times depending on how you “angle” it. For the cost of this watch, I expected an impeccable display to begin with! I should not have to “struggle” or turn on back light to see the time. The only brightness adjustments to make were the back light only. The back light was clear as you can set how long you want back light to stay on. The brightness display without back light was the only issue I had with it.
It is an excellent fitness watch. The overall features and benefits of the watch are great. You can customize your fitness needs (for rowers: you can add features needed for rowing/crew) through either Garmin express (PC) or Android app. There are tons of customization apps to download for your needs. The problem I had was getting it connected via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi with smart phone. You just have to configure it right. The GPS with glonass seemed quite accurate with quicker pick up from satellite.
It is a beautiful watch with stainless steel band (black rubber included) and sapphire display. It is worth the extra money for sapphire display for clarity and scratch resistant in case of accidents.
I would put 5 stars if the display could be better! If you do not mind “struggling” or turn on back light but want all the features that goes with this watch then go for it. I am going to wait for the Fenix 4 with hopes display improves when it comes out eventually.
