Really good but maps leave something to be desiredOnce I figured out how to upload the maps I bought to the device I have been pleased with it. The maps for purchase are good but not great. The maps have to be purchased separately and it is possible to get maps online that are made by other adventurers rather than Garmin.,,,,I have used it for a few months in total now and I have yet had any difficulty with satellite locating or the device itself. I especially like how lightweight it is and the Carabiner attachment. I clip it to my pants or pack and hike or climb as usual
Are the maps loaded in the 64s able out of the box to navigate precisely or do you need to buy add ons? I am a search & rescue volunteer who needs spot on at a reasonable cost.

Thanks for the question! The 64s includes a base map only. Any precise navigation will require purchasing additional maps. You may want to check out the 64st handheld instead. That device comes with a pre-loaded TOPO U.S. 100k map, however it is not routable. It will show you topographic details, but not turn-by-turn directions. You can check it out below. I hope this helps!
