This seat is a little on the heavy side for backpacking, but it is small enough to fit in my Kelty pack very neatly. It is relatively comfortable and sturdy for the size, and to give an idea, I weigh around 200 pounds. I would put this seat in my backpack for anything inside of a several mile hike. In summary, this is a great seat for car camping and a decent seat for backpacking.
This chair is a little heavy, but the size is great for space-saving. It fits nicely in my Kelty pack without being too obtrusive. It is reasonably comfortable for being a small camp chair, and in case there are any weight questions, I am 200 lbs, and I do not question its sturdiness. In summary, it is a decent backpacking chair, but a great camping chair.
"Really nice, compact and (mostly) comfortable."
I got these for my wife and myself. She has terrible sciatica and other problems when walking, but we do like to get around on foot. This makes it a whole lot easier just to walk around our local parks and neighborhood, since it's pretty easy to carry this on your shoulder and just unfold it when needed. As for me, I'm kind of a big guy and when I sit on my "seat," I have to be a little careful that my family jewels don't encounter the front support, since that would be really painful. But so far, so good...
