compact, lightweight, semi-comfortable, but not durableIt packs down to a very compact size and sets up in a snap. It even has a nifty little carrying case that is a cut above most. Considering it's a tripod stool, it's relatively comfortable but, like most tripods, a bit like a cheap motel (no ballroom). My biggest complaint is that it's not very durable. I've not used it all that much and mostly to just detail my car (never taken it camping), but one corner of the seat is fairly well shredded. I need to write GCI to see if they'll send a replacement. But the seat should be reinforced at the corners, where it attaches to the legs.

Simple Lightweight StoolThis isn't really a backpacking essential, but if you can spare the weight, it can make your trip more comfortable. I bought this after going on a trip with a few friends that had similar stools. It was a rainy weekend and every time we stopped for a break or to have lunch, they would break out easy-to-set-up stools so they didn't have to sit on the wet ground. ,,,,This stool is also great for using at camp. It adds comfort for simple things like cooking, organizing your pack, pumping water, etc.,,,,I would recommend this as an inexpensive/light-weight option for anyone looking for a backpacking/camping chair.
