I think this pack is a great size for younger children. My son keeps his water bottle, snacks and Geocaching items in it while we go on daily hikes. We got caught in pouring rain and contents remained dry even though I haven't had the chance to wax the backpack yet. I grew up with Kånken as my school bag and I love the fact that my child is sporting the Mini version so many years later. I have seen trendy young ladies around Seattle wearing the mini I guess in place of a handbag. Think I am too old to get away with that but it looked cute.
I ordered this backpack in Ice Blue and love the color. Since it is mini-size, it works best for either small children and people like me who like to just have a small backpack for daily adventures and traveling. I like the classic design and durability, but I have heard that some of the lighter colors can fade and stain over time. As for the size, it is a handy small backpack but you might want to consider getting the regular size if you are planning to use it is a primary backpack (the mini works best as a sort of small purse that fits just the essentials). Despite the size, even the mini fits quite a lot of stuff. There are three outside pockets (two on each side for water bottles etc., and one at the back).
Fjallraven Kanken Mini is a really good backpack for our children. It is simple, it is stylish and was once formulated to reduce children's back problems. In short, it is thought out. The size of 7L makes it perfect for kids. It fits just as many toys as a child should have on a journey. After the teddy bear is packed, the pack of raisins is in place and an extra sweater loaded then it fits exactly two more toys. "But sweetheart, it can not fit more than two toys. I promise, grandmother and grandfather have toys at home too." The three-year-old may be staring a little sour, but will accept that Kanken Mini will not fit more than two toys extra. Success! "Excellent for an infant if they were allowed to be an adventurer!"
It is exactly what the description states, "MINI". I am glad that I have children, however at the age of 12, this pack may still be too small. The description which was brilliantly meticulous, utilized the metric system, to portray the magnitude of this diminutive pack. Most astute, well played...well played!
