DECENT FEATURES of the Five Ten Men's Canyoneer II Shoe
The shoe fit normal in its length but I found it wide and loose on my feet, with a neoprene sock in it the fit was much better. I person could also try different running shoe insoles to customize the fit if that was an issue. The padded ankle is nice and it helps keep debris out, the straps hold them securely on your feet, no worries of river currents pulling them off. There was no issues of the shoes jamming under the canoe seat while I was kneeling and the sole is cushioned enough that they worked great on rocky and hilly portages. The grip on wet rocks is what sells this shoe.

I got these canyoneer shoes to hike the Narrows (Zion National Park). I used these in conjunction with neoprene socks since the hike was primarily a river walk. These shoes preformed amazingly. Great traction against the slippery rocks. Extremely comfortable as long as you cut your toenails. The ankle support was essential as I was struggling against rocks and currents at river crossing. Well worth the money to protect my feet.
YES! these are the ugliest shoes on the market BUT they will ruin any competitors. they have great grip on wet walls and are even more amazing for waterfalls and small ravines. and remember those fancey dress parties where you didnt have any silly shoes. well now you do! this shoe is amazing and comfortable and superiorly above those of its competitors designs.
Rented a pair to hike the Subway in Zions park, Utah. Wore regular shoes on 2/3 of the way up starting at the bottom then put these on. Wish we would have put these on at the beginning. We traveled more than twice as fast once we had these shoes and neoprene socks for warmth. Shoe have awesome gripping power and going over rocks, and climbing up and repelling back down near the top part of the Subway was a piece of cake. Now I'm here on this site looking to buy a pair.Well worth the 130.00 price tag. I'll never do anothewr river trip without them.
Just got back from hiking the "Subway" in Zions national park. We rented a pair of these shoes and some neoprene socks from an outfitter for this hike. They had WAYYYYY more grip/ traction than the shoes I was wearing when I began the trip. We ended up climbing upto the top AND repelling down. The trip out of the canyon was about 30% faster than the trip in all because of these shoes and neoprene socks. The shoes made all the difference. The three of us that rented the shoes were wayyy ahead of the 4 that didnt for the whole trip. They just couldnt keep up in regular shoes and freezing feet.And now I'm here looking to buy some of these bad boys.
These suckers stick like glue to 60* wet walls and are fantastic for what they were designed for. Ya gotta love rapelling waterfalls and swimming canyons in these suckers!
Great shoe. The grip is unbeatable, even when wet. Comfortable on approach. They even float very well, even after going over a waterfall. Stopped for lunch and my friend kicked them into the stream... caught up to them after about a half mile of walking barefoot. Haven't tried them on sandstone so I can't tell you about durablity.
