Excellent productI had the original Impact Low for about three years and loved it: that shoe was at the moment the absolute best shoe for flat pedals by far. However, it had three problems, all probably stemming from the tongue design which is fixed on one side and free only on the inner side of the shoe, so it has a very restricted opening. First, it was hard to put on, which is not a big deal; second, it would stay wet forever, which sucks; and third, as a consequence of taking days to dry, the rubber sole quickly started to detach from the upper of the shoe because it is only attached by glue with no stitching. I ordered pair one and within two weeks had the sole come off completely. No problem there, because 5.10 had sent me a new pair within a week, they have great customer service. That replacement pair lasted three years, which is a lot given my intensive use in wet and humid conditions, but from the very start the sole still started to detach. It took three years to fall off, but otherwise the shoe was in perfect condition: pristine upper and still sticky and perfect sole, but completely torn off.
This shoe solves all those problems while maintaining all the excellent qualities of the original. It is as sticky and as protective as the original, but they redesigned the lacing and tongue system so it dries within hours in a well ventilated place and it is easy to put on and off. It also seems that at least in the front they added some stitching. If you've used the original Impact Low it will seem like the shoe fits looser than the original and it will feel like it will fall off, but it is just a different sensation, that shoe is going nowhere. It is more comfortable for walking and it has the feel of a normal walking shoe except for the very rigid and thick sole. Great shoe; a must have for flat pedal riders.
