The Guide Tennie Shoe by Five Ten is back by popular demand. The Guide Tennie can hike 10 miles into a climb, then ascend a 5.13 route (or better yet, a thousand feet of fourth-classing). We've studied previous versions of our classic "Guide shoes," and have created a new GT that's better fitting, better performing and better looking than ever. The new last has a rocker, which makes walking efficient and comfortable.

"Climb great, hike ok" 10/08/12
This is a very thin and soft shoe. The dot rubber is some of the stickiest out there and these shoes climb great. I say the guide tennie is the ideal choice for ridge scrambles and low 5th class alpine climbs. The new one offer a litte bit more rock protection in the sole than before.
"Excellent shoe, great quality, comfort and durability." 10/05/12
I have worn these for about a year now, and they are one of the most comfortable shoes Ive owned. They felt broken in right out of the box. Quality materials ensure limited deterioration and supreme wearability. Only thing that may concern some is the super sticky sole does leave marks if you care about that sort of thing. Would recommend to anyone.
"its impossible to be dissapointed by it." 03/13/12
it its performance it outstanding giving you complete confidence on an scramble or crag. i honestly thought that the sole would be worn off in a month but it stood the test of time so far. the toe rubber is really nice for smearing and toe hooks. another reason i got this is because the dot tread is the same as the five ten free rider and it does exceptionally well in my downhill mountain bike pursuits which is just great, i dont have the leather i have the dark grey/purpley slate carhart canvas material and i personally like it alot more.
"Great All Around Shoe" 03/05/12
I have had this show for a few months now and love it. It was super comfy right out of the box, no break-in period required.I have worn this Guide Tennie for the last few months almost every day for work, play and anything I do on weekends. Super sticky sole that laughs at water and snow. I'd buy this shoe again but have one concern...the sole is already starting to wear down at my two main contact points. Kind of surprised to see this after so short a period of time and hope the trend does not continue as that would mean these might be toast within a year. I weigh 175lbs and usually get about 2 years from my everyday hikers. Uppers are still flawless and do surprisingly well in the wet.
"Awesome shoe, just bought my second pair" 09/16/11
These are some of the best approach shoes around. The rubber on the bottom is so sticky, it feels like you can walk on anything! They instill a lot of confidence when walking to the crags, so I would highly recommend them for anyone expecting to be walking over some loose/rocky terrain.
"Great Performance that Lacks Durability" 06/11/11
This is my third pair of guide tennies. I love the fit of these shoes and how aggressive they are on on the rock. A great shoe for fourth class scrambling and easy fifth class climbing. While they perform great they do not stand up to continuous abuse. The front rand of the shoe seems to always start to peel after a couple months. All in all these shoes are great and expect to fall in love with them.... but expect to buy multiple pairs quicker than you want to.
"Great approach / adventure shoe" 06/10/11
These have been great so far. The stealth rubber is great for small impromptu climbing, and slick wet rock. I replaced the insoles, they can handle about 10-12 miles without too much soreness. The stealth rubber does wear down pretty quickly. I have put around 200 - 250 miles on them so far and i am starting to see wear in the heal and forefoot areas. You can resole them yourself for around 35 bucks though. They're perfect if you're looking for that barefoot feel with a little bit of cushion.
"i love these shoes" 05/05/11
i just recently took a trip to indian creek to do some crack climbing.Thank god for this shoe. I pretty much hiked and climbed lotsa crack all weekend in this shoe instead of my normal climbing shoes. These shoes were great on the approach and fantastic for wider cracks, # 2-3 camelot. overall a great shoeand i love em. dont need to size up from normal street shoe size either.

"Awesome Approach Shoe" 12/30/10
I've had my guide tennies for a year now and they are awesome. I love the 5.10 products due to the steath rubber on their shoes. the soles of the guides are dot rubber and I've even used these bouldering instead of my 5.10 climbing shoes. For the money they are a really good, comfortable, reliable shoe. The only down side is they are not waterproof. They are also comfortable enough to wear around town and I also wear them when I go mountain biking. All around great shoe....
"Perfect approach shoes" 12/04/10
I have had this shoe for two years now, and they have two summers of climbing in the Tetons under their belt. The comfort and durability is noteworthy, but the performance on rock is outstanding. The shoe is really sticky and gives you a type of hold you wouldn't get from hiking boots, yet it is good for 10 mile approaches. Would highly recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to have to bring two pairs of shoes on their ascents.
"The perfect compliment to a fine pressed and steamed birthday suit." 05/20/09
So there I was caught in my nickers. I was running from the mob and couldn't trust the cops. Looking to give them the slip I was gonna make myself scarce and leave town. That's when there was a knock on my door. It was the UPS man with my package from the moosejaw just in time. Pristine wrapping gave way to the intoxicating smell that is 5.10 rubber. With our powers united the shoes and I stuck to buildings, rock walls, and even giant puppy dogs in our escape. If only they were waterproof I could have seen if they stuck to the loch ness monster (who also happens to be the same olive green color; coincidence?).
