Love this vest! It's comfortable, maneuverable, and stays put. I had no problem rowing in it. The elastic waistband is a plus -- it makes it all that more comfortable. It's a great vest for the recreational boater/paddler, which would be me. The only negative, for some would be the lack of pockets, but I personally prefer no pockets, carrying my stuff in a waterproof pouch instead.

Traditional, old fashioned pfds always gripped my waist too tightly, so I couldn't breathe as deeply as I liked. The Volksvest is shorter, so the breathing is much better. I'm learning a new kayak, so swimming is part of my life and I really like the smooth outside of this vest- nothing to snag on re-entry. Best of all, my girlfriend says I look much more at one with my kayak! A pfd that impresses women what more could you possibly want?

I was very pleased with this vest. Granted the last time I went kayaking I used a regular ski jacket type and by the 7th hour on the river I was ready to set fire to it (I couldn't figure out why my arm pits hadn't since they were burning.) It was light, adjustable, and the fit was perfect (it was cut low enough to show some chest hair, the ladies love chest hair).

Both my son and I love our new vests. As new kyakers we were using our boat veats last summer. Being just 5 foot, the boat veat was pushing up around my ears. It was difficult to paddle and see where I was going! With our new vests, we have mobility, vision & hearing and enjoy our new kayaks!THe staff was very helpful in finding just the right vests for us and making sure the fit properly.
