I'm sure my friends are sick of me raving about this epic sleeping mat. I've had 4 different kinds, and this is the one for me. I've camped on all sorts of landscapes (rocky mountainous to damp, ocean-side) with this thing and it is warm, dry and uber-comfy. Just got back from camping in the Sierra Nevadas and was sure that the thing would pop as the ground was so sharp and picky it made holes in the tent. The Exped lives on! And it was so cozy and warm that even in the chilly night air, I was toasty.
I started out with a thermarest trill lite. I just couldn't sleep on my side with that thing. I realized that I needed a full air mattress and this is what I ended up with (I chose this one because it was the thickest). It inflates well and the pump works great. I am 6'1'' so it is nice that it is a little longer. Also it actually weighs less than the long version of my old thermarest. This is my only sleeping pad and will be accompanying me on many Sierra trips. My only wish is that they would make a mummy shaped version to cut down on weight and size a bit. I also like that it comes with a repair kit and nice stuff sac. It can't be beat.
This thing is really something special! Warm when it needs to be, fine for summer too. Wider than my half of the tent, which doesn't bother me, but means the old lady has to sleep on a seam. Takes longer to blow up than the girlfriend's thermarest, but worth it.
Where were you all of my life? Seriously, I have 5 other sleeping pads in my collection (several are very new) and one is another EXPED but once this bad boy came out I sensed it would be the "one." It is light, very comfortable, easy to inflate quickly, and very importantly, WARM. There is lots of competition in this area but I think Exped is the best. I really love the orange color too (I know...that is so pathetic) but it matches my aura.
Very well built. Good ratio between comfort and weight. Packs up small enough to fit in back pack easily. Replacing a Therm-a-Rest from 16 years the Original inflatable pad, still works just want a more comfortable and warmer pad. The Exped is alot more comfy, lighter, warmer and packs easier. We will see if it lasts 16 years like the Therm-a-Rest.The built in pump is outstanding!!
