Rated 3 out of 5 by from Comfortable and warm but didn't last I got one of these for climbing Denali and it held up really well. It was the only mat I brought which worried me because if it failed I'd have lost a lot of insulation if I couldn't fix it. Overall it held up great and I'd use it again. However on my next trip the inner stitching between the inner tubes started to blow and I had huge bubbles develop towards the bottom (Still held air like new). The only other con is that it takes a while to inflate so if you are changing camps often and having to set it up and break it down it gets tiresome. I still love it though and recommend it, it's smaller than carrying two mats and amazing to get you off the sharp ice!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's the pinnacle of cold weather comfort. I like that the sides are slightly bigger than the middle to keep you from rolling off. I prefer the pump system it's there to control moisture. It feels good has a smooth velvety finish and makes no "chip bag" noises in the middle of the night. It has a R value of eight it takes 9 cm of closed cell foam to accomplish the same insulation. Large release valve makes deflating easy. It is not light weight but that is the point. Exped is innovative and build quality is superb. If you like a good night's sleep in cold weather stop reading this and buy one. PS... go for the 9 DLX

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thick, Warm, Light, Comfortable I bought this pad to match up with my Big Agnus sleeping bag that is ment to be used with a pad via a sleeve. This pad is great. Pumps up in no time with the built in pump. I do wish it was a bit smaller but is definately worth every bit of space it takes up in my pack on those cold nights. If I had to do it all over again I might have gone with the Thermo light Neo Air. Chose the Exped because I knew it would keep me warm. The Neo-Air is uninsulated and depends on a reflective coating. Might invest in one of those for warmer weather later on.... :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible mat...worth the weight At first I was worried about the weight of the downmat.....but if you are in winter camping, this is by far the best weight per r-value pad that you can get (there is actually one better...the downmat 9). Though smaller than the downmat 9 as far as thickness, I never once touched the ground. On a cold winter night when the ground is going to be your biggest enemy robbing you of warmth, no neoair or closed cell pad is going to keep you warm like a downmat. ,,,,The fit and trim are impeccable....excellent product from exped. It just "looks" cool too....you'll definitely have bragging rights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get one now (or want one later) I used a 7 series with the internal pump on a trip to Denali (DownMat 7 Pump). Over 3 weeks of sleeping on this and my back feels great. Helps smooth out the inevitable lumpiness of snow, allowing for a great night's sleep. Yes, it's a bit heavier than other pads (~2 lbs) but for sleeping on snow, when you'll likely have a bit more gear anyway, the extra weight was negligible to me. And yes, it takes a few minutes to pump up but again, with shorter winter daylight hours and more time in the tent, a few minutes is nothing. (Well, shorter daylight hours except if you're in Alaska in May...)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Near perfect! After years of other thinner sleeping mats, I have finally found a mat I can sleep on, and is warm to boot. The bellows, which doubles as the bag's storage and can also be your pillow, can take a bit of getting used to, but I have no trouble inflating or deflating the mat, even in a small one-person tent. It packs no larger than a regular mat, and certainly no heavier. It can be very noisy on the floor of the tent, but I fixed that by puling a sleeping bag liner over it. Never look back!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best mat by far! I have been using this mat more than a year now combined with a Marmot Lithium sleeping bag. When I used this mat for the first time I was really amazed! It was the first time that I did slept so comfortable. The thickness of this mat is unbelievable it is like you are sleeping in your own bed. Seeing the mat when it is fully inflated and then when it is stored in its bag makes you wonder how can it be that mat so warm and comfortable can fit into such a small bag. Considering the comfort and warmth it offers I would say that this mat is EXTREMELY light. Finally, it is very easy it to set it up using its own bag as a pump.,,Well you can have all this for nothing, so yes it is an expensive pad it worth every cent of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from When It's COLD this is what you want I have had the Down Mat 9 for 5yrs, I have used it in the heat of the summer and winter camping nights to -20. Yeah it's heavy, yeah it's a pain to pump, (although I hear the new ones are better) and it's too big to fit inside my bivy, but it's durable and it's warm, in the summer it's super comfortable and surprisingly not too warm. To be honest I am thinking about buying the down mat 9dlx which is even bigger, if it's not going to fit in my bivy then I may as well. :),,A great product, well designed and built with quality materials
