Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Women's FlyQ™ Lite VestIt's a nice jacket made with good quality material. The only down side is that some of the pockets are small. You don't need two wallet sized (example - for a driver's license) pockets. It would be nice to have eyeglasses pockets at the left/right sides. Including a pocket or two for cell phones. Also, zippers on all pockets would be a good idea. Velcro alone is not secure enough. Why no zippers on the outside pockets. It's the first place where the gypsies in Rome and Florence will stick their hands into your pockets. Not sure why they didn't think of that. I really do like the jacket - it just could have been given more thought in the pocket/security design.

Pockets Didn't WorkI have been shopping for a good travel vest for some time. I was really hoping this one would work. This vest is well made and the pockets are well organized and labeled. It is stylish. However, the sizing of the pockets was illogical. I wanted a secure pocket (velcro or zip) for my smartphone (iPhone6), a small wallet, and my passport. None of the pockets could accommodate these items (except the large pocket in the rear - not practical). I also found that after putting just a couple items in the vest, that the weight seemed unbalanced. As cute as it was, it went back.

Terrific travel vestOrdered this vest for a recent trip to Ireland. It was great -- I didn't carry a purse at all, because of all the interior pockets. I first ordered it in extra small (my usual size) and was surprised at how small it ran. I then ordered the small, which was fine, but I wish I'd been alerted to order "one size up" to avoid the additional shipping and return charges.
Works well for hiking and looks fine for restaurants and sightseeing as well. Only change I'd make is to add a "bottom up" zipper, so you can unzip the bottom while sitting -- so it doesn't bunch up in the middle. THEN it would be truly perfect!!

Eureka!I've been searching for a vest like this for 2+ years - & I'm so happy that I've finally found it! I bought the charcoal gray, because I don't want to worry about the inevitable little smudges, that would show on the two lighter colors. This color has a little brown in it; no problem, as I think it's a better match with the black & tan pants with which I'll wear it. The multitude of pockets is wonderful, and all have labels to suggest their best use. There's even an interior pocket at the rear waist for - whatever! I love the soft lining in the exterior side pockets and in the facing at the top of the front zipper. The zipper is sturdy & there's a zipper pull that gloved hands can grasp. I'm enthralled!

I really wanted to love this vest, but...I had hoped this vest would be the solution to carrying a purse or backpack when traveling. It's a great concept; here's why it didn't work for me.
First of all, the vest comes with the strong probability of snagging your shirt because of velcro closures. As others have mentioned, I would have preferred the pockets be secured by a zipper instead of velcro.
Secondly, I was easily able to place a small wallet, sunglasses, travel journal, phone, small bionoculars, and camera inside the vest; however the weight of all these items made the vest uncomfortable to wear. I felt as though my shoulders were being dragged down and forward, which is not a posture conducive to walking long distances while traveling.
Finally, when I loaded the above items in the vest and zipped it closed, all the lumps and bumps inside the pockets were visible from the outside. This resulted in a misshapen look.
Sadly, I sent the vest back to Ex Officio yesterday.

Unfortunately this vest only comes in regular sizes and I needed a women's petite xlg. The vest is of excellent quality and the only travel vest I found online with such well organized inner pockets to safeguard all the necessary travel items. It was way too big for a short person and I was unhappy to have to return it.

So much storage I get lost among pocketsOther than the tan color which does not quite match other tan ExOfficio items I have, I am delighted with the vest. I was looking for a lightweight vest like the fishing vest I had bought several seasons ago for a friend. This is beautifully crafted with a variety of sizes of pockets, including one for sunglasses that is lined with soft material. This is well thought-out for travel with a cellphone pocket inside, and an outside upper pocket for my SanDisk player and earbuds so that I can easily carry Audible books or music. Zips easily. Smooth exterior. Bottom cinch.

FlyQ Lite Vest - Top notch!I purchased this vest after reading extensive reviews of both this vest and the ScottEvest. To be honest, I kept going back and forth between the two and finally opted for ExOficio's FlyQ Lite Vest. The reason? A couple, actually. First, I've purchased ExOficio's products before and have always found them to be excellent quality. Second, I felt that the FlyQ vest had the edge over the ScottE vest based on the outside styling. The FlyQ woman's version seemed to be a bit longer than the woman's version of the ScottE - I wanted something that would at least cover my mid section fully. The FlyQ does. It's also slightly tapered but not too much. The other one seemed too tapered for my tastes.
I wanted something that was very functional yet still a bit stylish, and the FlyQ seemed to fit the bill better. I ordered it, and received it within a few days. I had the opportunity to wear it during a weekend solo getaway to the beach and it worked out beautifully. There's nothing nicer than being able to take your valuables with you and walk along the beach without having to lug a purse or backpack or whatever. Totally hands-free!
The vest, when "empty" is very very lightweight, yet provides good "windbreaker" coverage. That's not to say that it is thin. It is lined and very well made. There's room in the armholes for me to wear it with a sweater underneath, or a t-shirt, both work great. I like that virtually all of the pockets are zippered - I feel that my valuables are completely safe that way - things won't fall out.
I was also able to fit my iPad in the vest, and while it made things heavy, you could not tell I had it in my pocket at all!
All in all, I'm VERY happy with this vest.
