Rated 5 out of 5 by from Men's Short Would like a pair with traditional 4 pocket configuration, rear pockets closed with buttons. Cargo pockets on the thighs are uncomfortable (I don't know why anyone would prefer such) and the lack of a pocket on each side of my rear end deprives me of my standard wallet in left and handkerchied in right rear pocket. It is distressing that the Nomad departs from this traditional design. The only reason I buy them is so that I can wash a pair after the day's wear and dry them overnight, like my boxers and Baja shirts. This is why I did not rate their "features" and "effectiveness".

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Functional, but not stylish. I was hoping these shorts would be similar to the Liquid Flow shorts. I've wanted a pair of activewear khaki shorts -- ones that I'd wear out as well as in the water -- and these *looked* like they fit the bill based on the pics on this website. But when they arrived, I was disappointed in how thin and flimsy the material is. The first two people who saw me wearing them both asked why I was wearing a bathing suit instead of shorts. They aren't thick enough to look like shorts, they look like one of those pairs of swim trunks I grew up with. The light khaki color, combined with the thin material, makes me nervous about ever wearing them in the water, lest they become see-through. Bottom line: Might be great (if expensive) as swim trunks, but not as around-the-town pants.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I expected or wanted I was looking for an all around travel, activity short that could get wet and dry quickly, withstand a beating and still look good at a party. I was searching for a discontinued exoffcio short that I have worn into the ground, sadly these aren't it. The ride too high on the leg making me look like I stepped out of 1975. The material isn't that ultra thin wicking material I wanted, it's uncomfortable and Im going to return it as soon as get around to it. Try a different design.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nomadic yes, Adventerous no. It has the same comfort and feel of the typical ExOfficio clothing line. Its lightweight, very packable and its fabrics seem perfect for outside high heat. The length of the shorts is a problem if you attempt any serious travel activities like clambering aboard a train or scaling a boulder. The shorts will catch on your knee and will get pulled down. The shorts are primarily made for you to look nice and while keeping you cool and not for everyday travel activities.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I like these! I am a female with no waistline, so generally men's jeans, pants and shorts fit better than women's. I am also larger than a size 16, so most women's Ex-Officio clothing is too small and just doesn't fit properly. I bought these for going on safari, but I've already washed, worn and washed them again. They are quick dry and come out looking pretty good if you are careful to smooth all the seams. They wrinkle pretty quickly if you're sitting down, though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid shorts but imbalanced pockets After picking up these shorts at a local outdoor shop late last summer, they nearly pushed my Mountain Khakis Alpine Utility shorts into obsolescence because I wore the Nomads so much! At first they seemed way too thin and flimsy, but after just a couple wears I was impressed by the comfort and durability that they displayed, and by how well they performed in the muggy summer here in the southeast. They have a close, but not constricting fit, and the panel used in lieu of the traditional inside-of-the-leg seam enhances their mobility. My lone gripe with them comes from the pockets: four out of five pockets are on the right side, and two of those four are stacked on top of each other, which makes it tough to use both of them simultaneously. If either the security zip pocket or the utility/phone pocket were moved to the left side of the shorts, they would be nearly perfect!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sizing's an issue Ratio of waist to hip proportion needs enhancement. I am a true 36 waist. The shorts are a bit large in the waist at 36 but snug in the hip/butt area. Size 38 is HUGE in waist but better fitting in hip/butt. Unlike Europeans, American men have hips and butts so ExOfficio needs to reconsider its sizings AND do a better job of monitoring for compliance by the Asian manufacturers. Othewise I LOVE the shorts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Three new improvements An avid golfer, nomads have been my choice for years, due to their comfort and quick drying nature. The new nomads have moved the coin pocket and hanging loop to the left pocket, which frees up the right for tees, markers, and ball mark fixers. Finally, their phone pocket now accommodates the new larger iPhones, with no part sticking out ... GREAT!
