"Awesome shoes to start climbing!"  05/19/12

After renting for a few weeks at my local gym, I finally buckled down and bought my own gear ... I wish I had done so after my first climb! I ordered my street size and I'm wishing I had gone up half a size, since these didn't really stretch at all. Fortunately, the velcro makes the tightness bearable, and I can easily take my shoes off when I'm belaying. I think my toes are also starting to get used to the fit. Other reviews complained about the smell, so I'm fairly conscious about making sure I wear fresh socks and haven't had any problems yet!

"Smell terrible!"  04/17/12

These shoes are a good deal price-wise, but the savings aren't worth it in the end. I used them a few times a week in a climbing gym, and after a month or so I was losing all my climbing buddies to the horrific odors they were producing. I honestly don't know if I have every smelled anything so foul in my life. And it wasn't just my funky foot smells, either - the same thing happened to all my friends who bought the same shoe. Also, the heel was a bit loose. But they were cheap, were decent for all-around performance, and easy to slip on and off, for whatever that is worth.

"SOOO much better than rentals. A great first climbing shoe!!"  03/17/12

They fit true to size and are easy to get in and out of! They're synthetic so they don't stretch too much and it doesn't take very long to break in. A great all around climbing shoe. I would definitely recommend these for anyone who is getting their first pair of climbing shoes. Remember, they're supposed to feel really snug, almost like they're too small and you should go the next size up. You're feet will feel a little smushed but that gives your toes more power when you're climbing because you're not sliding around inside your shoe.

"nice edging, good fit"  02/29/12

Ordered these as my second pair of climbing shoes, after retiring my basic Mad Rock lace ups. I prefer the velcro to laces, since laces seems to wear out frequently. Be careful with the size on these. If possible, try on some Evolvs first to see what works for you if you're not familiar with the brand. I ordered these and they're a touch too small - after some use they're not stretching much. Fits my feet well otherwise and the shoes edge well - decent heel protection for heel hooks too. Rubber is nice, I like the two tabs on the heel and there's some good cushioning under the velcro.

"They run very small!"  01/14/12

My last shoes were mad rock and I loved them, aside from tightness issues when I grew out of them. I ordered these because they had some good reviews and seemed like a decent shoe for the casual indoor climber. I am a size 10 in my street shoes, so that's what I ordered. When I received them, I was shocked at just how small they were! My old shoes were a 9.5, and these 10s were even smaller! Yikes! My toes are so scrunched, I can't even try them in the gym. I'd say order bigger than you normally would, unless you like belaying in pain?

"Best upgrade from stinky rentals!!"  12/21/11

I got this pair for my wife after listening to other female climbers at my gym. Nobody likes using rentals, these perform way better minus the shared sweat. They have really good edging and good sticky rubber. Dont be afraid to get small sizes with these. This is added benefit of getting velcro vs laces. You can easily take them off in between climbs or when belaying so your toes dont have to get smashed for no reason. My wife loves them!!

"Love It!"  11/25/11

My wife climbing in these shoes. She loved the color too! Fit is comfortable. Since they are synthetic we ordered her street shoe size and it's just right. Not too tight but tight enough to keep the shoe close, no dead space. Great rubber, and the two velcro straps help to get the shoe on and off for comfort. Terrific while bouldering and you're not the one climbing. She's please and we both love Evolv shoes.

"Great shoe for a beginner"  11/13/11

This was the first shoe I bought when I first got into climbing and it worked great. I probably could've gotten them a half size bigger as the 8.5 were probably a bit more snug than they needed to be. I used them 2-4 times a week for about 4 months before I decided to upgrade. With the price tag on them compared to other shoes, I would definitely recommend them for someone who is just starting out and not sure how into climbing they are going to get. Not to mention, the purple is just sweet anyway =)

"Great all around beginner shoe & comfortable, but not very sticky"  10/20/11

I started using them for the gym and then took them outdoors after a few months. The velcro is an amazing feature (take them off between climbs while people with lace ups look at your aired out and rested feet with envy). I’m a 7.5 and have wide feet, and got them in 7. I used them frequently for 2 years with no holes or tears. They’re comfortable enough to keep on an entire day of climbing, and they're good for all around maneuvers, even with cracks & edging. But they’re difficult to heel hook with and a major downside is they’re not very sticky. They're a little heavy and you have to air them out because they do stink up quick, but all around, an awesome beginner shoe!

"Good shoe, sole cracks after a couple years"  09/11/11

These were my first real climbing shoes. They worked great for the first couple years, but wear and tear got to them fairly quickly. The sole started to crack and get slippery. I now need to get new shoes.
