This shoe does a swell job for digging your toe into those small pieces. However, the shape is a bit awkward on the foot and will take some getting used to. Good for the price that it is, and good beginners. The color pattern is not bad either.

I have relatively wide feet so finding comfortable climbing shoes is hard for me. If you also have this problem then the defy lace-ups are for you. I may be a chick, but the men's are wider than the women's so who cares if they aren't pink? These are comfortable and the lack of downturn makes them a great trad shoe. If you're looking to climb 13's- these aren't the shoe for you, but if you've just started out- or might be in climbing shoes for 2+ pitches- check these out
