Super comfy daypackAt first I was slightly skeptical of the compressed size of the pack out of the box thinking it wouldn't be big enough to hold my gear. Once I undid the straps and opened it up my worries were curbed. It's big enough to handle my larger loads (ropes, harnesses, layers, etc) when I want it too and can slim down significantly for those short day hikes. The air comfort feature creates a space between the pack and your back avoiding the dreaded pack sweat. The top of the pack does go higher then the shoulders which isn't ideal if you're trying to scramble up some rocks or dodge a fallen tree but overall very comfortable and carries a decent load with ease.

Wonderful day packI originally bought this pack to take on a Baltic Cruise with my wife. This pack was amazing. I carried 2 light jackets and two raincoats, water bottles and bladder, 2 cameras and still had room for our shopping stuff. It carried extremely well, had much more comfort than another trip we took when I carried a jansport school backpack for the same job. I really like the suspension ans the off the back air flow has been pleasant on some wilderness treks in warmer weather. Built in rain cover is deploy able without removing the pack with a little ingenuity. A great buy if you're looking for a day pack.

Well made, lots of pockets!A slim profile, well made day pack. Works well also as a carry-on for minimalist traveling. The person who said that it extends above the head must be very oddly shaped. Above the shoulders maybe, yes. If you like top-loading daypacks with plenty of pockets (not many of those out there, you may have noticed), give it a try.

Can't beat German engineering! It took me about a week to decide between the Deuter Futura 32 and the Gregory Z30. Ultimately I chose the Futura's ease of access and simple engineering over the Gregory's compartmentalized design. The storage compartments are intuitive in their size and placement, and easily accessible. I love that the Futura's capacity is not overly divided up - essentially one large top loading space that can be expanded to include the bottom compartment, with access from the side as well. A few smaller compartments are well-placed and useful without being overwhelming in number or taking away from the pack's main capacity. Plus, the suspension system is great! I plan to use this for both day hikes and traveling, hence my preference for the Deuter's storage engineering (the Gregory deserves equal praise only I think it's more suited for hiking). One drawback, although I don't really notice, is the weight: at 3 lbs 8 oz the Deuter Futura 32 is a bit heavier than its peers.

Not my favoriteI ended up returning this pack after trying it out on some dayhikes. The back was stiff and the pack was not nearly breathable enough. Great raincover. Pack also extends above wearer's head, making it kind of unwieldy for city use backpacking around Europe. I'd recommend buying a pack with back suspension instead.

very good for small tripsThis backpack is comfortable and durable. Superior to similar designed backpacks. I guess it will able to use for many years to come. Perfect to make trips for one or two weeks.
