Wanted a back pack that could grow with my son so he could have it for years and years to come.My son recently bridged into Boy Scouts and we wanted a pack that could grow with him. After doing lots of research then going to a local outdoor store and having him professionally sized he fell in love with the Deuter. Having the adjustable shoulder harness is so great it is easy to adjust and makes this a great pack for scouters since they will probably never out grow it. The pack has worked great on his weekend camp outs plenty of room to spare for more gear when he does his first week long camp this summer. Not the fanciest pack out there or the most expensive but you get your money's worth for this pack. This is a five star pack in my books.

Great for smaller hikes! Used it on Isle Royale and loved it!I borrowed this pack from a friend for by trip across Isle Royale. It wasn't too heavy, and the frame is pretty good. I had it packed to the brim for my week trip but it made it feel lighter than some of the other packs I've used for other hiking trips. I really like the lightness of this pack compared to other 65-80 packs as well as the straps that let me adjust a lot. I wasn't too rough on it but the durability seems pretty good, and I liked the pocket set ups. Maybe could use a few more pockets to make accessing things easier but that would be my only complaint. However, I loved the pockets on the hip belt and all the extra straps.

A great pack for your buck! This pack is great for people like me. If you go out a few times a year, for multiple day hikes, this is a great pack to get. It has tons of awesome features on it like the adjustable height (which is good if you're still growing)as well as tons of pockets for random goodies. The material in the waist and shoulder straps feels really comfortable, and reduces sweating. The pack rides nicely on the hips and shoulders too, and has this great air pathway design thingy on the back to keep you cool. However, this pack has one downside, the overkill of dangling straps. Thats really not that big of a problem, unless you have OCD about dangling straps...

Almost Perfect. For me at least, it's uncanny how well this pack conforms to my body and makes me feel very balanced and confident when moving up, down, laterally or scrambling.,,,,I do use the whole 75 L often because I use the pack for climbing days. It's just the right size for my rope(s), gear, food and clothing. For weekend backpacking it's a bit large.,,,,Two drawbacks: 1) It doesn't compress well with very small loads. Kind of annoying. 2) It's almost too narrow for my shoulders/chest. I'm tall and carry some upper body muscle. The width of the straps seems made for a really skinny dude.,,,,But overall I'm happy due to the way the pack rides when I'm moving.,,

Light and well organized pack!I was immediately impressed with the ability for fit customization with the adjustable suspension. I had it sized for me in no time. I also like the large sleeping bag compartment and large mesh pockets on the sides. This is my first pack with pockets on the hip belt, which is super handy! The pack is large enough to handle everything i need for a one or two night trip. The large mouth at the top made it very easy to load and unload gear. I went from a heavier smaller pack to this lighter larger pack and will never look back! I would recommend this backpack to anyone.

EhhhhhhhhhhkayThis was my first pack. Wanted something light but for some reason was under the notion I needed 75 L. If you're thinking the same - you probably don't. It has like 3 pockets which is neat I suppose. I'd rather carry a frameless pack like the Golite Jam. The ACT lite is comfortable enough, but kind of heavy.. Plus, after about two days on the trail it starts hurting the center of my back. I'm too young to be having back pain. No other pack has done such... Suspect? ,,,,Bottomline: Not bad, not great. It works. Good enough but I like better.

Haven't used it but weighted it down against the competitionI will start by saying I needed a new pack because after 16 years with my Kelty I needed a new one. I tried went and tried Light weight, Ultra Light weight packs from the REI models to the Osprey ones and couldn't find a pack that was comfortable with 30-40lbs. I tried this out and put 42.2 lbs in it and it is a DREAM. I will be taking this on a 5 day trip through the "W" in Patagonia here shortly and will report back on how it held up. So far around the house with the weight and down the block or two it is GREAT. The padding is awesome and the straps are perfect. I wish it came with a built in rain cover though :(. And I also which it had more hooks on the outside so my solar panel and other things would fit. Other than that it is great!!!

The best of the bests. No question asked.Took this pack to Grand Canyon. My gears weighted close to 28 lbs, plus 6 lbs of the pack. The adjustments were amazing to fit the way I felt comfortable like a fine tuning. Love the pivot hip belt and shoulder straps. Many ways to adjust the hardness and straps. The best part of this pack is the U zipper to have access in the pack. Clever design. Also, you could have access top top. Water bottle attached to both sides was great. ,,,,After 12-mile hike, I had no discomfort on my shoulder or hip. Extremely comfortable and balanced.,,,,If this pack wears out (highly doubt cuz of durable materials), I will buy another one in a split second. I had Osprey pack and never return to Osprey. Deuter pack is the best, in my opinion, and of course it's made in Germany.
