"great hiking pack"  12/29/11

I've always been a hiker and I've used a variety of packs. This one far exceeds all of them. The organization for this pack is fairly standard, but the customization of the straps and fit is where Deuter excels. And the +10 feature is a big added bonus when you just need a little more space for gear. Get it!

"Great Pack"  11/27/11

I have had this pack for two backpacking seasons, and I have not had any complaints. The pack is extremely versatile with the adjustable shoulder straps. Another great thing about this pack is that it is relatively inexpensive compared to Osprey or Kelty. The quality of this pack seems great, I have not had any rips or tears in the two seasons I have owned it.

"packs a Punch"  08/15/11

I really enjoy the feel of this pack on the shoulders and lower back. The vari-quick system is crazy simple and, well, quick and is the easiest adjustment system I've seen on a pack. I wish there was more room for gear for longer trips, and it's harder to stuff a thicker sleeping bag in there. The whole design of the bag is very streamlined, with hardly any material bulging out beyond the shape of your torso. Very nice for tight trails and 4 to 5 day trips.

"Almost Perfect."  06/03/11

For me at least, it's uncanny how well this pack conforms to my body and makes me feel very balanced and confident when moving up, down, laterally or scrambling.I do use the whole 75 L often because I use the pack for climbing days. It's just the right size for my rope(s), gear, food and clothing. For weekend backpacking it's a bit large. Two drawbacks: 1) It doesn't compress well with very small loads. Kind of annoying. 2) It's almost too narrow for my shoulders/chest. I'm tall and carry some upper body muscle. The width of the straps seems made for a really skinny dude. But overall I'm happy due to the way the pack rides when I'm moving.

"Ehhhhhhhhhhkay"  05/27/11

This was my first pack. Wanted something light but for some reason was under the notion I needed 75 L. If you're thinking the same - you probably don't. It has like 3 pockets which is neat I suppose. I'd rather carry a frameless pack like the Golite Jam. The ACT lite is comfortable enough, but kind of heavy.. Plus, after about two days on the trail it starts hurting the center of my back. I'm too young to be having back pain. No other pack has done such... Suspect? Bottomline: Not bad, not great. It works. Good enough but I like better.

"Great for smaller hikes! Used it on Isle Royale and loved it!"  10/20/10

I borrowed this pack from a friend for by trip across Isle Royale. It wasn't too heavy, and the frame is pretty good. I had it packed to the brim for my week trip but it made it feel lighter than some of the other packs I've used for other hiking trips. I really like the lightness of this pack compared to other 65-80 packs as well as the straps that let me adjust a lot. I wasn't too rough on it but the durability seems pretty good, and I liked the pocket set ups. Maybe could use a few more pockets to make accessing things easier but that would be my only complaint. However, I loved the pockets on the hip belt and all the extra straps.

"My First backpacking pack"  03/25/10

I've always been a hiker and a camper just not combined. So we I desided to give it a shot I was a little in the dark on what kind of pack I needed. Went to REI and the dude told me this is a great pack for what my needs are. I was looking at a $250 doller pack. This thing has plenty of room for all my stuff plus some, its super lite weight and feels great on my back! plus its a Deuter and thats a german brand so you know it will last. plus if you desided backpacking isent for you you dident blow all your cash on a really $$$ bag and you could sell this thing on craigslist in a heartbeat.
