"Got 'em to replace a beloved pair of sandals and they know what's up."
I got these Chaco's for two reasons: 1) my Merrell's aren't waterproof, and 2) they don't have a toe strap. I am a longtime campaigner against toe straps, and I was overjoyed to discover that some shoes companies agree (at least with this model). I would say that they aren't the sandal for everyone. The heel cup is very high, and rubbed on mine at first. There is also a very prominent arch and the straps have to fiddled with for a while before they really settle in. Personally, I really love wearing them around, but I highly suggest trying on a few pairs and a few sizes (they don't have halfsies) before purchasing. They will not mold to your foot, so if they don't feel right, don't get 'em. Once my feet got used to the weight, I wear them around all the time in the summer heat. Couldn't ask for a better replacement!
I wear these shoes everywhere. I've worn them in New York in 40 degree weather, to my farm, to hike, after practices, and everywhere in between. They are amazingly comfortable and most of the time I never want to take them off. Bottom line… if you want to be a hipster, get some chacs and an eno and buy them off of moosejaw cause its a great site.
A few years ago, I went on a 100 mile kayak trip in Croatia, then spent a week doing touristy stuff in Spain, then went to Ireland for a week. These were the only shoes I brought and I never regretted it. The only thing that is slightly annoying is that it really does take some time to break them in. You need to get the straps perfectly adjusted to your foot, and it takes usually many adjustments in the first few weeks to get them right. Then, sometimes after you get them wet, they change. I recommend getting them perfectly adjusted, then getting them wet and walking through the sand. The sand gets wedged in the creases and holds it into place.
I just recently bought a pair of these and it took me a little while to adjust the straps, but after that, they fit great. The arch is very supportive and I don't feel bad wearing sandals that aren't bad for my feet. The only problem I had is that the one strap over the ball of my foot seems to rub, no matter how tight or loose I adjust it. But that just may be me.
Love these! I lifeguard at a lake during the summer and standing on a dock all day is killer on your feet and back. I wear my chacos and that fixes it. My chacos keep my back and feet from hurting after a day of standing. Also the super wicked tan lines.
I bought some of these sandals to wear on the approach trails for climbing. I hated lugging around my climbing shoes, flip flops and my running shoes to wear on the trail up. With these, I wore them up the trails and between climbs so I didn't have to carry that extra pair of shoes. I recently bought a new pair without the toe strap. The toe strap wasn't bad but it just bothered me and it was a hassel to get the sandal on. I like the one without the toe strap much better. I also love how i can get them extremely dirty and just wash them off with a hose. Ohh and they are extremely comfortable and they have excellent traction so they were great going up and down hills on the trail.
I do a lot of mild hikeing during the late spring and earlly fall and I dont like wearing hiking shoes so when i first say these i was like yes! i love them to death and besides just wearing them hiking i also use them as my water shoes and I even wear them to school and just to walk around. They may be expencive but they are very good quality and I think there tottaly worth it. The only problem i have with them is that they start to smell bad after a while so I just but some soap on them and warsh them with the hose and them there good.
I got these and wore them literally around the world. They are perfect for hiking, fun in the sun, or even just going to class or walking around town. plus you get a really cool tanline from them that will make the kids jealous. seriously the greatest shoes ever!
I have this product with blue straps. I love the color! The sandal is very comfortable. At first I thought the sole was quite heavy, but now I don't even notice it. They seem to form to my foot. I would wear these anywhere!
"Who said you can't wear socks with sandals?!"
after much convincing from my hardcore adventuring mother (and against my most frugal of instincts) i purchased the zx/1 last summer. i purchased them for recreational bike riding and once i wore them the first time i was hooked!! they are both durable and comfortable enough for anything from hiking zion national to wearing to work, even through the long winters. they do run a little small, so i recommending ordering a half-size up. A MUST BUY!!
