The Camp USA Nano 22 Carabiner is a super lightweight carabiner for climbing like a speed demon. Or just lightening your rack up quite a bit, 'cause this puppy comes in at 0.8 ounces. WOOOWwww! The wiregate helps drop weight but won't freeze in an alpine environment and still offers plenty of space in the opening. There are plenty of colors to choose from, so get that rack color-coded to your preference.

Lighest weight "for Climbing" caribeaner I have found. We have not used them for climbing and do not specifically plan to. We purchased them for hammock setup, but they double as a emergency plan if needed for climbing. Every thing in our pack must serve no less than 2 purposes or it is out. Also these are the lightest carabiners we could find so they help keep the pack weight down, and they offer them in black and green so they coincide with the Leave No Trace principals. They function great, and are inexpensive. Great product, as long as you are realistic about what you are getting.

Great biner, but beware of sticky gatesI use these as racking biners alongside a bunch of the previous generation Nano 23s. These are superior in almost every way - they feel larger so fit better in the hand, the gate opening is slightly wider which helps in usability, they're unnoticeably lighter, and most importantly, the gate action is smooth and consistent... a huge improvement over the 23s. However, I've observed over the past year that the gates are also susceptible to sticking - moreso than any other biner I've used. I've got a couple that must be manually closed or they'll stay wide open. My girlfriend lost one of my cams a few weeks ago when it simply fell off her harness... presumably because of a sticking gate. And a friend of mine got a whole rack pack replaced under warranty by Camp because they were sticking. Definitely be vigilant, as I don't think Camp's quality control is quite up to snuff! Still, these are otherwise my favorite small biners.

Bike Mike from
LightThis biner is light, small and strong, as the old saying goes, "light is right". I don't know who to credit that quote to but it's in Freedom of the Hills!
