"Good for traversing frozen snowpack" 06/06/11

I have used these on roper's sierra high route, climbing Mt. Banner, and a snowcamping trip in the White Mountains. Overall, they are a good lightweight option that will help provide safety if you may be encountering ice or snowpack. They work great for either low grade or short sections of use. Having said this, they are not meant for technical climbing. they do not cover your entire foot and are not suited for extremely steep grades. They can be used on steep grades, but you will have to go very slow. The weight savings over traditional crampons are great for allowing you carry these as an added safety measure.
