"It works!"  05/21/12

Great compass! it also comes with an instruction manual to assist in teaching how to use a map and compass. Better yet, it came with a gift from brunton: 5 free NatGeo maps! For what it's worth, I noticed (by accident) that the compass is (for whatever reason) sensitive to my jetboil fuel canister. I guess the canister has some kind of charge on it.

"Works, Cheap, bonus features"  04/17/12

It works, it's cheap and it has measuring tools. What else do you want from your compass?

"Good Compass"  02/29/12

This is a basic compass, if you know how to use it, it will point you in the right direction. I always carry it with me when backpacking, and I have abused it. I kind of just take it for granted because it is always with me and it just works. No much else to say about the product, but I would recommend it to anybody who wants a cheap reliable compass that works.

"Great basic compass"  01/26/12

I think every Boy Scout (the good ones, at least) learns orienteering with this compass. It's durable, simple, and cheap. I've relied on my Brunton classic for years, and I haven't gotten lost yet. There aren't any fancy mirrors, lights, or blades on the compass, but you shouldn't need them

"Simple, easy, effective"  09/18/11

I needed a new, simple compass. No extra bells and whistles. This one fits the bill. Lightweight and compact. Clear base for reading maps. The lanyard keeps it handy. This was a good purchase for me.

"Light but helpful"  07/30/11

Great compass. My brother got it for me for christams, and it came in pretty handy when we were hiking up a mountain in Greece last week.

"Light and all you need"  05/02/11

It doesn't speak to me but I can still figure out what direction I need to go. I think that's all I need right? Although if someone makes one that talks I might have to trade this one in.

Or North. Doesn't matter. You have a compass that's true.

"best $10.00 I ever spent"  07/16/09

I dig it. For 10 bucks you cant beat it. I have used it quite a bit and it has never let me down.

"This compass is cheap - but it's not a compass I'd ever buy - it's not a good value"  03/04/09

There are so many good compasses out there ... this one has a crappy bezel, and the declination adjustment is by friction (rather than a more reliable set screw). But basically, it's hard to use this compass to sight a bearing accurately.Pony up and get a decent compass. This compass is a short-cut for cheapskates.

"Good for the price."  05/27/08

It's cute and cheap and it finds North. I wouldn't use this if I were going on a huge expedition, but it does the trick for day hikes and peace of mind.
