"Cheaply made but functional"  06/25/09

The compass is cheaply made, but it works. If you need something that can take a beating, don't rely on this compass. It doubles nicely as a compass.

"Don't buy it"  03/17/09

This thing is just built too cheap. The connection between the compass and the signal mirror/cover is cheap thin plastic that will break. When that happens, you will lose the sighting hole, and you will no longer have a mountaineering compass. A leveling bubble would also be nice to have. This was the only mountaineering compass they carried at the store by me. I bought it cuz I needed one and had some credit I needed to use up, but you should go to REI for better selection.

"Nice affordable compass."  07/11/07

Nice affordable compass. Looks like it will stand up to moderate abuse. I wouldn't be cracking acorns with it though.
