"It's...chalk. In a block. 56 grams of it. ...It's a 56-g block of chalk. Not much else to say..." 10/26/11
But seriously, unless you're climbing competitively every day, chalk is chalk. Go for the $ more than the $$$$. But anyway, White Gold is a pretty good name in the chalk world and it doesn't disappoint. It dries your hands out and makes them stickier, and if you get a block you can either grind it as fine/coarse as you want or just leave it "whole" in your bag. If you just like the simplicity of pouring out of a tube though, skip on this one. Just a warning, it comes wrapped in a thin paper, and it will probably break up a little and spill out during transit. So if you can, order it with stuff that's going to get chalky anyway, not with your fancy clothing.
"Bad packaging" 10/05/11
It's a great product, too bad some of it never made it into my chalk bag. Would give it better review if moosejaw took greater care in the packaging. The chalk spilled inside the package. Got a big whiff of chalk as I opened the box. Not pleasant!!! I had other items in my order and they were all covered in chalk. I hope moosejaw will clear up this problem. If not, I'd rather buy locally. It will royally suck for the guy combining an order of chalk and a velour jacket.
"The coolest block o' chalk I know" 09/15/09
This stuff is great and you cant beat the price. I wont over dry your hands and if you do ever manage to spill your chalk bag you can at least recover most of it without creating a wintery wonderland for your belayer.
"Great stuff" 09/25/08
Thanks moosejaw! for some reason I had a hard time finding a block of this stuff anywhere I guess loose chalk and chalksocks have become more popular lately but you guys came through and had it in stock. I don't think you can beat a brick of the stuff you break up yourself. I'm kinda disappointed that I ordered some other stuff (headphones) that was all in the same bag as the chalk. The chalk managed to get through the packaging and all over the headphones and in the same order (same box) moosejaw allotted a separate bag for a chalkbag I ordered. I ended up with chalk all over my headphones and squeaky clean chalkbag but no damage was done so it's no a big deal.
