"Great poles. . ." 02/23/12
So far in the last year I have abused these all the way to the top of Mt. Borah and back, and also on a 25 mile backpacking trip and they have been great. Extremely comfortable to hold all day long, and light weight. They also fit perfectly on the side of my pack when I'm not using them.
"Extremely Adjustable And Incredibly Lightweight!" 01/29/12
I am hiking the Appalachian Trail with these Trekking Poles. They are lightweight, they are easy to use and easy to stow away. They compact down to such a small height that you can stow them anywhere. I keep them next to my snowshoes. The length is easily adjustable to any accommodation. The wrist straps are comfortable and fit well. They have done well in the snow, the mud and in rocky areas. I definitely feel more stable with them and definitely recommend them! They ease the pounding on my knees and ankles when I walk down hills. You will definitely get your moneys worth with these!
"All around great poles that are light and compact" 08/08/11
I am 5'10" and 210 lbs. The length of these poles is perfect for someone at my height. Someone up to 6 ft. can still utilize these poles. The benefit about the length of these poles is that they are very compact and good to travel with in a carry-on bag for flights. I recently used these poles on a three-day camping trip in the Mt. Whitney area. I summited the top with these poles. They withstood a lot of banging on the rugged terrain along the Mt. Whitney trail. Several times I put all of my weight on these poles as I came down steep parts of the trail. The tips on these poles are very reliable. They never slipped even on wet rock. The long hand grips are great when climbing uphill.
"Good...But could be better." 06/22/11
For the value, these are not bad. When they are under a bit of pressure. They quick release gives a bit. But other than that they are pretty light and store away well when you want then to just hang off the back of you backpack.
"This is all you need!!!" 03/14/11
For the value, these are the best hiking poles i have come across. Yes they are not anti-shock, but i dont want to feel like i'm walking around with a pogo stick. Antishock is just a gimmick to get you to spend more money. The locks on these things do not seem like they woiuld budge. I can tell that just by how hard it is to lock them. It's not a pain or anything, it just reassuresyoui that they're not going anywhere.
"Tough poles. Carry a screwdriver." 01/18/11
These poles have really taken a beating and have held my full body weight of 200lbs on multiple occasions. The flick locks hold well and adjust fast and the handles are comfortable. I especially like how the top is shaped for when I put my hands up on top (like you'd hold a cane) when going down short and steep sections.I did end up needing to retighten the screws in the flick locks after about 18 miles. The screw driver on a SAK Classic was more than sufficient for this task and now they hold my weight again without issue. If they loosen up on me again I'm adding red loc-tight.
"Great trekking poles" 11/01/10
These poles work very well. I am pretty tall (6'5") and length is certainly not a problem. Used these on part of the Muir Trail and can say that Black Diamond has a very durable product. I really like having the long grip so that you can change hand position on a long hike.
"Solid poles" 09/22/10
I love the adjustment mechanism on these poles. The flicklocks are really easy to use, even on the go. I found myself adjusting my poles for the up and down segments, while the guys I was with just stuck with some middle ground length because their Leki poles were much harder to adjust. The optional baskets that came with the poles work really well for supporting a little more weight on snow to decrease postholing.
"Poor Customer Service / Break Easily" 06/12/10
LEKI spoils customers with great service. BD, not so much ... I caught one in between a coupla rocks, and well, it didn't bounce back. When I contacted BD, I was fed the company line about how it was my fault. The rep. even got a lil' testy with me, as if I were trying to pull a fast one. He tried to sell me a new set of poles, even! On a second call, I finally got someone who wanted to help, but required that I pay for S&H two ways and also the two new sections of pole, needed. The locks and grips rock, but the cust. serv. leaves something to be desired.
"Great for less than smooth terrain. increased stability" 06/01/10
I like to take my 30lb little guy hiking at the Rock Bridge State Park. (He rides in a backpack) There are many trails from which to choose, some are quite uneven and rocky. I love these trekking poles!! They give me so much more stability on the trails. I feel much more secure about taking my munchkin since I have these poles. The handles are very nice to grasp and the flip-lock system is easy to use. Length markings make it easy to rapidly adjust to your own prefered length. Very well designed and manufactured product.
"Used for snow shoeing, worked great when in deep snow for balance." 02/27/10
Worked great in deep snow for balance, when not needed collaped easily to put in backpack out of the way. Used on part of Ice Age Trail in Central Wisconsin, come and join the fun!!
