"Wouldn't buy any other pole"  10/02/10

These poles are a great entry pole for anybody. They are the mainstay. The flip-lock design makes every other twist-lock pole obsolete in my mind -- not only is adjustment super easy, but you tightening up the locks is easy as well. I don't see myself ever getting anything besides BD poles, and I am VERY glad I have this pair. Leki's got nothing to offer that BD can't beat.

"Nice Poles"  09/21/10

Personally, I don't want to be the guy who shows up with the finest trekking poles available to humanity. If I'm hiking with the Sierra Club and the guide lists poles as a gear requirement, I bring them. That said, I bought these based on good reviews and a low price and have been well satisfied. When I'm not using them, they are light to carry.

"Nice Poles"  07/14/10

Super simple poles that work well. The flip-locks are wonderful and the poles are just light enough. The only improvement I can think of is to lighten them further (but I suppose that's what more expensive poles are for). I'd get these again in a heartbeat. They've taken me all through the Whites, Adirondacks, and Rockies.

"Good Value"  06/20/10

Trekking poles an item I naively didn't believe in until recently. Once I realized the massive benefits I started using cheap L.L. Bean poles that I found in my garage. Those poles broke on a trip to the Wallowas so I had to get new ones. Poles are something I didn't want to spend an outrageous amount of money but I wanted a good pair that wouldn't break. These are those poles. They have a great locking system that is very secure unlike the cheap twisty poles. Although you can spend more money for better handles or the black diamond shock system, I didn't think any of that was necessary at least for me.

"Great deal CAUSE I SAID SO!!!"  06/04/10

Poles are lightweight, but help me as I am a big boy when hiking. Poles come with teh snow disks which was a welcome surprise. Poles work well with my Big Agnes Tent too!! A definate buy and I highly reccomend for recreational hiking.

"good sturdy product with great locking mechanism"  05/26/10

These are solid poles with good locks. They are compact, but a bit on the heavy side. That probably adds to the strength and durability. I would recommend them. I use them on The AT.

"these poles were good off the bat, but broke on their 3rd day out,"  11/16/09

i bought these poles because they were simple easy to use with gloves on (none of that twisting nonsense) and they dont have the anti shock feature i have enough spring in my step already i took them on an 8 day trip in the Whites i did a few miles a day nothing hardcore a good way to break in new gear apparently in more ways than one 3 days in i was coming down a trail planted my pole with a little weight on it the pole not only bent in the bottom section it folded completely back on itself i went down landing in a full split and on my elbow of which i now have a small bone chip floating around in thanks to the poles failure do not buy these poles they look good but they are so not worth it

"Great Value for the Money"  03/05/09

I have bad knees and tried to hold out for the longest time against trekking poles - what was I thinking? These are a great pair that are relatively light and compact. Carbide tips work great. There are no springs to absorb shock, but they do flex a little. Flick-lock makes it easy to break-down and strap onto the backpack in no time - or easily adjust on the go. I took some bicycle handlebar tape I had and made a second, soft hand-grip below the rubber one so that I don't have to constantly adjust if on a trail that is frequently changing incline/decline. Your best bet for something non-walmart that you want to last, but aren't interested in shelling out for the "top-of-the-line."

"Great Job"  03/01/09

These poles are the best. After returning my "twist lock" poles because they dont "stay lock" I opted for these poles and I am very satisfied. They also double as a "support" for makeshift tarp tents or sunshades.
