Another great product from Black Diamond. The Super 8 is quality made and allows the rope to move with control wheather you are using it to rappel from a 75 ft tower or belay your buddy up your favorite route. A must have for all climbers!

"one smooth criminal" 		          03/15/08
I have not used the super eight for all of its recomended uses such as using it to belay but I love nothing better than to go to the top of a route and speed off the side with this smooth piece of equipment and cruise all the way to the bottom. I hope to use it to repel off our school's water tower someday soon.

Feels as solid as a rock, but is light and compact. Some light rappelling hasn't really tested it, but it did its job. Worth every penny.

"Good 8 but no real climbing application." 		          01/17/08
As a figure 8 goes, its great. Lightweight and smooth it's nice. However, unless you rappel all the time or use it for rescue, it really doesn't have an application in climbing. So if you know that you need a figure 8, this is a great figure 8. But if you are looking for a good belay/rappel device then I would go with an ATC.
