The Black Diamond Spot Headlamp is a hiking headlamp that isn't afraid to step into the climbing or skiing world every once in awhile. When darkness is upon you, hands-free lighting is the way to go. This little guy straps to your head with a comfortable, adjustable band and features a total of 5 LEDs (2 are red) to light up the night. Set up camp, finish the tail end of your climbing route, or even head into the basement to flip the breaker. It powers up with 3 AAA batteries and resists a splash or two of water in case you find yourself in a bit of wet weather.

FEATURES of the Black Diamond Spot Headlamp

  • Powerful and fully featured, the 130-lumen Spot offers our convenient PowerTap Technology, which allows for quick, on-the-fly brightness adjustment with just a finger tap to the side of its touch-sensitive housing.
  • PowerTap Technology allows you to go from dimmed to full power and back with a simple tap of a finger tip on right side of the touch sensitive housing (Storm and Spot only).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE HEAD TORCH BEST EVER This headlamp is perfect in every way. Weight, comfort, battery life, visibility, lighting options, price, water resistance...I can't think of a single way to hate on this product. I really want to, but I can't find a flaw. Black diamond did such a great job manufacturing this that I sent therm a personal thank you card and baked them cookies. Alright well I didn't bake them cookies or write a card, but I did take the time to write this review. The color options all look great, you really can't go wrong here unless you're looking for a light totally waterproof.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasantly Surprised I have to say, I wasn't expecting much from a $40 headlamp - I couldn't have been more wrong. The main beam is quite bright and throws a decent spread. The auxiliary white LED's provide a good level of brightness for close work, and the red is a great feature for those late night stumbles to take care of business. It's comfortable to wear and very easy on batteries. Love the ability to dim to any amount, and to just have a quick change to full brightness with a simple tap. Haven't gotten a chance to test how water-resistant it is, but it seems like it'll hold up nicely to a light rain.,,,,The single button setup can be a bit confusing, but once you play around with it for a few minutes, you kind of figure it out. Lens is plastic, so take care not to scratch or shatter it, but other than that, fairly bulletproof.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Robust and useful product I have used a lot of different headlamps over many years of hiking and caving. Most of them are useful for a short time and are kind of flimsy and get damaged rather easily. This item has been an exception. The light is great and highly controllable. The features are all useful but what stands out is that this item is rugged and can withstand a lot of falls and wear and tear and the design is pretty robust to handle heavy duty adventure. So, in my opinion its reliability, robustness and of course, the quality of light are its key features which all the adventure enthusiasts will benefit from.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best lamp I've bought..so far. I have owned 4 headlamps. My favorite was the REI 1986 model. Weighs a ton and chews up the battery but has a great beam. bought two cheap models from some big box stores and they work as a headlamp should, push a button and light comes on, they have issues. Bought the Spot based on reviews on MooseJaw and other sites. It's pretty awesome for a light you wear on your head or around your neck. The beam surpasses my REI light cannon and the unit weighs a couple of hundred pounds less. Great light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Headlamp! I bought this headlamp a long time ago, and it finally just died on me. I decided to buy the updated version as a replacemwnt, and it is just as great! The model is loaded with lots of features, has a good lumen rating, doesn't go through tons of batteries like some other head lamps, and best of all is cheap for how nice of a headlamp it is. It also attaches perfectly to my Black Diamond climbing helmet. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone in the market for a headlamp.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good features, button a bit too easy to push. This is the 2015 model of the "Spot". There is now a newer, 2016 model, so things may have changed. I also own a 2011 model. The improved brightness is over previous models is terrific, as are features like the "side tap" to enable full brightness. However, I find the power button on this one a bit too easy to push. I worry that it could accidentally get turned on when stuffed in my backpack or duffel. Best to transport it with the batteries removed or reversed until ready to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm convinced this is the best value headlamp available! I'm convinced this is the best value for your money if you're looking for a durable, very bright headlamp with a good feature set (this has been confirmed as a great headlamp by several outdoor stores I've visited).,,,,The light is very bright and has a dimming function for to save batteries. I found it to be very comfortable and easy to use. I like this better than multi-led lights because it makes for a smaller footprint on your head (the other ones tend to be wider). I was worried that having a single main LED would mean a sacrifice on brightness but I was thoroughly impressed when I first turned this sucker on. No complaints whatsoever and the battery indicator light is a nice bonus.,,,,The only other lamp I would suggest would be the Black Diamond Storm which is a weatherproof version of this headlamp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from When you absolutely depend on your lamp for safety I bought one for a week long trip up Mt. Kilimanjaro. It never failed me around camp. On the last 2 days of early morning hikes in the dark my lamp was the brightest on the trail so much so that I purposely lighted the trail ahead of my trail partners in the lead to supplement their weaker spots and spread. The locking mechanism is not so intuitive but it works and is key. I just bought the sane light for my wife.
