Housed in a reflector, the one-watt LED throws a far-reaching beam-plenty strong enough for pre-dawn approaches or route finding during a through-the-night single push. When all you need is close-range light, switch modes and use the three proximity LEDs, which emit ambient light for more than 140 hours. A single switch on top lets you choose from four lighting levels for both modes-min, mid, max and strobe-to dial-in the light output to your needs. The batteries-up-front design works great for reading when you're tent-bound while waiting for a weather window.

"Light anytime you need it." 		          10/28/09
I got this headlamp nearly a year ago for camping. For as small and light as this thing is it really throws a beam of light a long distance. On lower settings it's great for reading while in your tent. When not camping I use it when working on my house in dark and hard to see areas so my hands stay free to work. I recommend this light, it was worth the money.

Prior to using this headlamp, I would not be caught dead wearing one. My husband bought this for me as a gift and I reluctantly used it, and am now so glad that I did! Now I have both hands free to do whatever I need. The various light settings are great and are very bright. It also looks nice and isn't bulky. Now I won't be caught dead while camping without one!

If Black Diamond makes it you can guarantee and awesome product. The 8 different settings help out when you need just the right amount of light. I love the pearl finish on the lamp!! It was make a great gift for your significant other too.

"Very Functional" 		          09/03/08
I use this as my primary headlamp when I go caving, and so far it has treated me very well. It's water resistant, so that's useful. Also, it has a bunch of different settings, so you can decide if you want to conserve batteries or illuminate the entire surrounding area.

"What seems pricey at first glace is actually a good value." 		          08/10/08
When I first considered this headlamp, I wondered why anyone would want all those features, spot vs. spread out lighting, various intensities, etc. But having used it for a few weeks now I must say it is VERY useful. Oh, and my night climbing abilities have improved fourfold compared to using my old headlamp it aims easily and I don't seem to knock it askew when I am scrambling about!
